NNE At the opemng of the sophomore year there were f1fteen of us st1ll plugglng away at our work under the gludance of Mr Zlegler our class sponsor We lo st several members ACt1V1t16S dur1ng the year 1n cluded a roller skahng party at Greeley an 1ce skat 1ng party w1th refreshments at Ivhldred Buehler s a treasure hunt a Latm banquet at Phyllis Albrecht s and an all school p1cn.1c at the close of school In September 1947 we entered B H S as Jumors Mrs Chambers and Mrs Sulhvan were our sponsors Aga1n we took part 1n school athlet1cs and act1v1t1es The class enjoyed a hay r1de and we1ner roast A surpr1se farewell party was g1ven for D1ck Stotts on December Z6 1947 Var1ous members of the class took part 1n the plays What Happened to Uncle and Sadle of the U S A On Aprll Z4 the junlor Semor banquet and prom was held at F1ve Acres 1n Longmont The tables were attractlvely decorated carrylng out the Dutch theme In the center of each table were tuhps 1n var w1th a Dutch scene on 11: The place cards were a.n chors on slups and the nut cups were the slups The menus were Dutch boys and g1rls wluch also rontam ed the program Between the courses of the meal a prograrn was presented S1x sophomore g1rls dress ed 1n the natlve Dutch costurne were waltresses An orchestra from Loveland furmshed the muslc for the prom We enjoyed a p1cn.1c at Dev1l s Gulch at the end of the year In the fall of 1948 fourteen solemn semors agam entered the halls of Berthoud I-hgh school Durmg the course of the year one student moved away and two others answered the call of Cupld leavlng the re ma1n1ng eleven semors to carry on One of the f1rst events of the year was the fre sh men 1n1t1at1on on September 23 Each seruor was 1n charge of the 1n1t1at1on of two freshrnen Many d1f fe rent costumes and stunts appeared on the program The follovung evenmg we entertauned the freshmen at a formal dance 1n the gym ,gown gem... gnu 9 0 go 9 lb! hQy G49 gn QXA All 0 ' 1 Hd ff L1 cf S 1- pf' MIN 'E ' 1 os. . . . u .
