1 9 4 2 BERTHOUD HIGH SCHOOL 1 9 4 CLASS PROPHECY In 1951 a bottle wrth a sealed cork was washed ashore at Happy Landrng It was found by Bob Haworth commander of a coast guard crurser In thrs bottle was a lrst of the class of 42 of whrch Bob was a member Along wrth the lrst of names was a fire hundred dollar brll Thrs was grven by the class to pay the travelrng expenses of the person who found the bottle provrded he would vrsrt the class members He rmmcdrately left for Bertlroud hrs home town There he was greatly surprrsed to see how the town had grown Excrywhere hung srgns drrectrng hrm to the famous home of the Rutt qurntuplets Who do you suppose was the mother of these five darlrng boys Herman Henry Harry Harvey and Harold It was none other than the lrkable Esther Spomer The proud father was her rdolrzed arr prlot rn the World War II Her man Rutt He called on Mrs Hanna the class sponsor who told hrm the addresses of several members Dorrne Drerth Roberta Berglrn Tom Bern and Lourse Grrep Bob xrsrted Esther and from her he got the addresses of Shrrley Buehler and Helen Stark Bob rmmedrately took hrs arrplane for that was the common way of travel and went to Denver where he found Shrrley presrdent of the Barnes Busrness School srttrng Lehrnd a large desk rn a room called oHrce The once shy grrl we all used to know was now very promrnent rn socretv Her greatly neglected husband had just retrred and was lettrng her take over the busrness She rnd her three beautrful daughters were seen rn the socrety page nearly every day Bob went to New Mexrco to vrsrt the Carlsbad Caverns On hrs way down there he stopped to refuel and met Arnold Betz who was lrvrng on a large ranch on the plarns of New Mexrco Arnold took Bob out to see hrs rare skunk farm Skunk was a very valu able and popular fur From thrs vocatron Arnold had become a multr mrllronarre and was not marrred because hrs possrble prospect drd not lrke hrs busrness Bob enroyed hrmself very much but had to hurrv on As he was flyrng over Kansas he saw a large flock of turkeys and decrded to drop down to ee them To hrs great scrrprrse he found the former LaVerne Glantz takrng care of them She was marrred She had neet her husband whrle attendrng the Poultry School Bob bought one of her turkeys He was not far from Kansas Crty and nearly out of gas so he stopped there he had the address of Lourse Grrep so he called on her Star and Lourse was a reporter on rt She had one darlrng daughter After Bob spent the week end there he went to Iowa and vrsrted Dwarne Perkrns He was a large contractor 'rnd had Just come back from Alaska where he was helprng construct the great Alaskan Panama Road He spends hrs vacatron rn Iowa rn a beautrful home near the Mrssrssrppr rrx er Bob made a short stop rn Chrcago where he located Helen Er el He hardly recog nrzed her for she was a Great dancer and known to the world as Madam Helene the Ideal Her dancrng was verv beautrful and gr ceful Bob drd not leaxe urrtrl Helen had shown hrm one of the country s nopul r steps From here he went to Phrladelphra to see Tonr Bern hrs old boyhood chum Tonr owned a nut and bolt factory He nexer marrred but was qurte the lady s man and was seen at all the nrght clubs and wrtlc 1 drfferent lads each nrght Bob spent a week here and had great fun recallrng the old school dats happenrnvs Tom accompanred Bob to New York There they went to look for Dorrne Drerth Dorrne was an old mard for she had never met her tall dark and handsome dream boy She desrgned hats on Easy street Her latest crertron was a mrnrature house wrth lrghts rn the shape of a hat The lrghts were a secret and her hats 'rll the style rn New York Dorrne took Tonr and Bob to see Merle He was rn the show busrness and had very beautrful dancrng grrls Thrs Tonr and Bob enjoxed Merle took them out for drnner and they 'talked or er old trmes Merl rnd Do rne had seen much of each other Merle had asked for Dorrnes hand many trmes but exrdently he was not her type tContrnued on next page! 2 1 - . . 1 Q .
