VV1 -' 1 ' '1-11'z11'ds 110 1'1-up. - 2 - - 1 1' 1 1 V 1 vi - 1 1 ' 1 f - Z, -Q 5 1 1 1 I ,,, , -1-E 1-lv' I 1 2--- 1 9 4 2 BERTHOUD HIGH SCHOOL 1 9 4 2 CLAQS HISTORY Twelve years ago in the year 1930 Frieda Orback Novella Vaughan Mary Nolde Leona Wright Tom Bein Melvin Dorman Robert Ostermlller Bob Haworth Merle Reis beck Willard Zoller Eddy Howell 1Eleanor Gablehouse Dale Adams Arthur Davis Helen Nolde and Everett Patterson star ed their long and happy Journey through the grades As Miss Tyler the first grade teacher looked over the freckled faces she dreamed of the wonderful class we would make in twelve years The next year she passed part of us into Miss Clark s class and kept those she liked best in her room for another year That year the class galned Dorine Drelth May Hacker and Viola Nolde and lost Mary Nolde Dale Adams and Eleanor Gablehouse In another year part of the Class the better half was given to Miss Stockwell to teach while the remainder stayed ln the same room wlth Miss K.1ght to teach them The class lost Dorlne Dreith May Hacker and Everett Patter son Robert Zimmerman Roberta Berglin and Helen Eltel filled in for the losses During the fourth year with the same teacher LeRoy Luman and Helen Stark Joined us leaving Robert Ostermiller behmd When we went into the fifth grade room Miss Grant was our teacher Our class was lncreased by Wayne Alltlzer and Don Dortch From there we went lnto Mrs Shreves room our class now being increased by Willie Stark Kenneth Russell Dorlne Drelth Harold Schneider Margaretta Green and Albert Schwlndt Before the teachers passed us into the high school buildlng they recalled all the things we had done while there We gave puppet shows and a play and took part in operettas and other programs All of us enJoyed our sneak day to Denver With a sigh they passed us on knowing how well they had done their Job in making a fine class out of us As Miss Opal Adams looked us over in the seventh grade she was pessimistic and wondered what we would ever become During that year Ruth Larson Wilber Schlelger Eddy Sanberg Monroe Cooper Roland Schleiger Zoretta Wright and Mary Lou Frazier Joined us Durmg that year we gave a play had a couple of parties and a PICHIC at the end of the year In the elghth grade wlth Mrs Fagan as our teacher we lost Mary Lou Frazier Willie Doris Wetsbarger We graduated from the eighth grade with hlgh honors Our diplomas were even handed to us from the steps of the Capitol Building Our freshmen class was an unusual class We were not green like the previous freshmen but very intelligent We were the best well behaved class that ever entered this school The teachers patted themselves on the back for producirg such a fine Sp6Cl men of young people This magnlficant class consisted of Tom Beln Bob Haworth Dorlne Drelth Novella Vaughan Roberta Berglln Helen Stark Althur Davis Merle Relsbeck Helen Eitel Roland Schleiger Ruth Larson Betty Hill Albert Schwlndt Don Dortch Wayne Alltizer John Gieck Arnold Betz and Shirley Buehler came from Old Berthoud Louise Griep Bob Dreith LaVerne Glantz and Esther Spomer came from W'h1pple Ber nita Weber from Lakeview and Everett Tompkins came from Kansas Roberta Berglin was our plesldent Bob Haworth our vice president Bob Drelth our secretary and Roland Schleiger our treasurer Mr HUCklUS was our sponsor We entered into the social ex ents by first going to the freshmen reception In Janu ary we had a party at the home of Louise Grlep In March we had a theater party and then were entertained at our sponsors home At the end of the year we all enjoyed a picnic in the mountains As sophomores we entered school still more intelllgent We had Joan Martin Eu gene Crandal Orlene Bath and Kathy Hurd as new members We lost four members John Gleck Albert Schwmdt Bernita Weber and Ruth Larson A farewell party for Bernlta and a Christmas partv comblned was held at the home of Bob Drelth Next came a theater party at Longmont We held a Latm banquet at the home of Tom Bem and a picnic at the end of the year at Boulder Our officers for that year weie Bob Haworth president Novella Vaughan vice presi dent Shirley Buehler secretary Louise Griep treasurer and our beloved coach Mr R A Hucklns was again our sponsor CCont1nued on next pagej e ' Y l.
