I IRLS BASKILTBAI L These grrls brought much honor to dear old B H S thrs year The season started out wrth elghteen basketball grrls srxteen of whom were very loyal rn stayrng out all season The Spartanettes rlways went Into the game wrth strong arm and determrna tron to wrn Wlth the excellent coachlng of Mr Wcst thev tmok the champronshrps of the 'Worth Central Conference Northeastern D1v1s1on Northern Colorado and second rn the State loslng to Joes for State by a one point margin The team shot off thrs year wrth a bane defeatlng Wellmgton 56 to 18 on December 12 rn a practrce game The game w rs played rn order to get rn some practrce before Christmas The ncxt victory was also over lVQllll'lJ10I1 on J nuary 6 Thrs the first conference g rme of thc season ended wrth r scorc of 60 to 15 Then came the old trme rrval Waverly on January 13 The Spartanettes under Mr West and Mrss Krght worked very hard preoarrnv for thrs dreaded Game Frnally the trme came for thcm to prove therr skrll Crue' fate decreed that the grrls should meet therr Waterloo and they lost by 1 margin of one pomt 22 to 23 On January 25 Berthoud pl ryed the Estes Park Bobc ts on our home floor Thrs was a wery easrly won game as the Estes Park team was wrthout some of rts best players The hnal score was 69 to 11 Agarn on February 3 at Estes Park the Spartanetfes wcn a decrsrve vrctory over the Bobcats The first quarter of thrs grme was rrther cxcrtrng but durmg the other three quarters Bcrthoud took the lead and won by a score of 54 to 15 Due to the hrgh altrtude all the grrls were not rn therr best condrtron At Wellrngton February 10 another g me .vas played The score was rn fax or of Ber thoud 59 to 30 On February 11 the grrls agarn met the Waverly tcam and by the wonderful backrng of the students and town won the decrsrxe xrctory of 49 to 30 Thrs was a hard fought contest By wrnnrng thrs game Berthoud and Waxerly were tred for Northern Colorado Champronshrp On Saturdav February 18 the team entered a Northern Colorado tourn -ment held at Galeton Colorado competrng agarnst three schools rn an elrmmatrng serres The last game determrnrng the wrnners was played wrth the Galeton girls who were champrons of the Northeastern Drvrsron of Colorado It proved an excrtrng one endmg wrth a score of 18 to 26 rn favor of our Spartanettes A srlver trophy was awarded our grrls tl'us brrngrnv another honor to B H S The grrls then met Prerce for the Champron hrp of the Eastern drvrsron They went lnto thrs game wrth the same old determmatlon to run up the score on the other fellow They fought hard to the last mrnute and when the whlstle blew they were on the long end of the score 30 to 12 Then came the great game of the season ln whrch the entrre team put forth all then . , .
