' . 1 . .Q I t f ff ta l flftl H5 i' ---- tl ef-n I 3 BOYS B AQKETBALL The Basketball season of 3 started wlth a good response of enthuslasm Coach Morey was well pleased with the number of tudents who reported for basketball at the beginning of the season He vvts determlned to turn out a team that would bring the name of Berthoud High School mto the limel ffht Of the whole team there was only one xeturnmg letterman Dick Perry who vms elected captain All thlough the season he p1oved himself to be a good man ln the for ward position along with Earl Schwabenland In center positlon was Ilvlng Pollock who played a good game all season At the guard posltlons were Claren e White and Vernon Swanson who stopped many a basket and Louls Hendershott who entered B H S in the middle of the basketball season and proved a valuable asset to the team and usually took the small end of the score They were defeated IH the first two games but came to the top in the last two In the second round of games the boys lost three but Hmshed the season by defeatlng La Porte in a b11ll1ant game Six players recelved letters for thelr GTVICPS on the te am Irvmg Pollock Vernon Swanson Earl Schwabenland Dick Perry Louls Henuelsnott md Clarence White Although three members of our Hrst team Pollock Schwabenland and Perry axe graduating we have hopes of a champlonshlp team next year But first of all we give this years team a rousing cheer for their work IH try ng to obtain the championship fox B H S 9 . .
