Ywflffff One warm June day as I was speeding down the road in my new corvette car, I saw a light pole coming toward me and it wouldn't stop. The next thing I knew, it had hit me hard. I think my head was stuck in the pole, because the next thing that I remember, I was watching movie slides in the pole and they were in color. What I was seeing was spectacular. I was seeing the largest graduating class from Berry High School--the class of1963. The first slide that I saw just had the numbers 1973 on it. I knew that the numbers meant this was going to be the year nineteen hundred and seventy three--ten years after we had all been together. The first person that came into view was Larry Smith, now in Russia. Now he can DEBATE for the U.S. since he always used to debate for the Russians. Look who sent him. His old debating his- tory partner, our one and only, Larry Davidson. Larry is still earnestly delivering papers. I see Paul Hammock, as always, drawing beauties. His paintings sell for fifty thousand a piece, if anyone is in- terested. Who is the beauty that he is painting? Why it is Ole Coz Rose Marie Lollar. I see Lina Honeycutt in her own kitchen cooking doughnuts, her speciality. Who is she cooking for? No one but Milford Bailey. Did he buy a kitchen in a home or does he run a cafe? I see a base- ball game and the Yankee's are playing. Who's up to bat? Sonny Barrentine but he struck out. Bet- ter luck next time, Sonny. What kind of a place is this? Why it's a dude ranch. There is Jimmy Moore riding a bucking horse and Jackie McGough riding in the jeep. This is just like the Roy Rogers show and here comes Dale--no one but Brenda Cook. Kattie Pendley is trying to sell Bobbie Lou Pendley a black mink coat instead of the brown. Why can't sales ladies let you make up your own mind? Who answered me? Doris Ann Davis, who is a psychologist. Now I have double vision. No, just our twins Linda and Belinda Earnest. There is a bald man following them. It is only Hoyt Sanford and to think he used to have such a head full of red hair. I now see inside the barber shop and who do you think the barber is? None other than Bill Luns- ford, who is trying to shave Earle Locke. In the ladies beauty shop I see Bobbie Bowen, ratting as always, and whose hair is she ratting? Laura Sims. Now Laura is meeting Bennie Carol Moore, who is a New York model, and who now has her own car, a 1952 Ford. Bobby Yerby has taken his father's job driving our school bus. No. 32. I see a circus. There is James Cotton training the elephants while Robert Sprinkle is the H20 boy. Robbie Simpson is the tight rope walker and Jerry Busby is acting like he used to in bookkeepingg a clown. Who is the strong man in the circus: Jimmy Cannon. I see Marilyn Wilcutt sleeping in a drive-in movie. There is a gigglers contest and the contestants are Shirley Pendley, Mack Tidwell, and Thomas Cunningham. It seems as though Shirley has won the contest. Lawana Feltman has been selected as Best Personality of the Year . Imo Gant is still trying to make a crystal garden that she started in chemistry years ago. I see a man with a mule in a corn field, and it's Richard Key. There is Doris Whitson who is a great scientist now, another Madame Curie. Weldon Hodges is teaching Economics to Leon Pendley and David Sanford who in turn will teach it to their Juniors and friends' Juniors. Melba Ellis is an accountant for a large firm the Knight Brothers Textile Mill Uimmy and Jamesj I see Irene Stoker nursing Mitchell Grey who has just been whipped for trying to steal another boy's girl. There is a great scientist in our midst, Billy Cannon, whose rocket fuel sent Wanda Harbin and Ken Hocutt to the moon. They were surprised to find that Shelby Pendley was already there. I was awakened by an old gray squirrel nibbling on my nose. I picked up what was left of me and went to the Fayette County Hospital. Midge Watkins, Prophet Glancing back at Berry High we see nothing other than our own class prophet teaching plane geometry. Y, ,
