Opportunity for Everyone in Music Support, girls! And now for my next number. . . The music department is one of the few in the school where everyone has a chance to join and develop his individual talents. Some type of activity is offered to all - women's or men's choir, concert choir, marching band, or concert band to name just a few of the diverse areas explored in this department. In band this year, several interesting events took place. Pit orchestra became a class, thus providing the spring musical with a strong instrumental section. The band was also involved in a Christmas event. Meeting Santa Claus on Olcott Field, they escorted him down- town playing Christmas carols. Later that week, the band went caroling in a bus to various homes in the area. In the choral department, the annual Christ- mas concert was truly given a festive holiday spirit. Following the concert in the auditorium, alumni and friends gathered on stage to sing the traditional Hallelujah Chorus from Beetho- ven's Mount of Olives. After this, members of the choir and the audience re-grouped in the cafeteria for refreshments and a candle-lit carol sing-along. It provided great enjoyment for all and will hopefully become a BHS tradition. KEVIN BELLOSA, B.M.E.. Murray State U., orchestra director M.
