GMGLISH m ROWING The English Department hopes to continue strengthen- ing its instruction in writing. Plans to introduce the writing workshop instruction into grade 9 will be formulated this year. The English Deportment consists of o dedicated group of teachers who work very well together in on attempt to elevate the level of instruction in Berlin High School. Mrs. Ambor, Beading Deportment Chairperson, reports that, in 1983-1984, her deportment continued to pro- vide reading instruction to oil students who could benefit by it. This year, Mr. Sconnell joined the Reading staff, and Mrs. Colise continued her fine work os on instructional aide. MMHQWICS Mrs. Carol Calise Reading Tutor Mrs. Gail Dares Algebra Computers The nine members of the Marhemarics Department, with an average of 16 years of reaching experience at Berlin High, have been commended by N.E.S.S.C. for their attitude, competence, preparation, and cooperation. The department was also commend- ed for a varied and comprehen- sive listing of course offerings and the introduction of new mathematics courses as the need arose The acquisition of several Apple computers has allowed the department to involve over 200 students in computer courses this year. The department anticipates continued interest in computers and will add a new course in PASCAL. According to Mr. Sherrick, the Department Head, the Math Department is continually review- ing new textbooks for each of its courses and is in the midst of a pro- gram to upgrade several texts.
