PRINCIPAL’ MESSAGE MR. ROBERT P. LONG, Principal Commencement Season is a particularly appropriate time for issuing challenges to young Americans. Statesmen, educators, businessmen— all are recommending challenges to young Americans to do this and to do that. Yet one of the most timely challenges for today's high school graduate was made about two thousand years ago by Pliny the Elder, who wrote: Criticism comes easier than craftsmanship. The todays and tomorrows are marked as never before in history with changes both breathtaking in speed and in nature. The assimilation of these changes will have a tendency to separate us into two forces—the critics and the craftsmen. In keeping with the democratic principles which underlie our way of life, each of us may choose the force with which he would like to be identified. A word of thanks for the contributions you have made to our school and best wishes for an abundant future.
