CLASS HISTORY or The Perils of Our High School Years” Cast- Class of I960 Setting - Berlin High School Time-September 1956-June I960 ACT I As the curtain rose in September, 1956, we found ourselves entering Berlin High School with mixed emotions, but looking forward to our freshman year. After becoming accustomed to new classes, rou tines, and teachers, we were welcomed with open arms, our arms, of course, for senior books. After a week of chaos — dolls, songs, and burlap sacks, we were formally accepted by the Class of ’57 at the Freshman Reception. To the embarrassment of the upper classmen, our class placed first in the Magazine Drive and the Cross Country Meet. Even with this winning streak we lost, when Mrs. Schmidt, our class adviser, left us. However, our hopes rose again when Mrs. Chenette took her place. On June 7, 1957 we bade farewell to our big brothers and sisters with a dance in their honor, making the fabulous sum of $7.58. Well, we didn’t lose anything but our seniors. ACT II The following September our class entered its second year at B.H.S. This year we made a fine start with our dance Harvest Moon.” Our treasury grew with leaps and bounds when we won the Magazine Drive for the second time. To our delight we won the Cross Country Meet once more. Our joy was shortlived when we lost our class adviser again. ACT III The third year found us as upperclassmen with our new adviser, Mrs. Johnson. The work for our year book began early. 25
