CLASS HISTORY FRESHMEN In 1954 we entered Berlin High School as frightened little freshmen and were soon welcomed by the seniors during Initiation Week. The girls’ burlap blouses, short skirts, dolls, and holster sets, and the boys’ gym clothes, garters, and crazy hats were sights to behold. This glorious week ended with a wonderful Freshman Reception, given in honor of us by the seniors. We closed our first high school year with a party for the seniors. Remember the fun we had with the seniors at the Freshman Frolic”? SOPHOMORES As sophomores we felt very much at home in Berlin High School. How proud we were to have come out on top in the Magazine Drive and to have seen our football team come through with an undefeated season. We closed our year with an informal dance The House of Blue Lights”. JUNIORS Finally we were juniors, and the end of our high school days was drawing nearer. In November we held our prom Autumn Leaves”. How well we remember receiving our rings from the king and queen. At the annual talent show we found the junior boys doing their rendition of the French can-can. Melodies in May” was the theme of our informal Spring Dance. We left school in June, looking forward to the day when we would be seniors. SENIORS At last we reached the top. Roaring Twenties” proved to be a good theme for initiation. That was one week when we really felt our seniority. The week closd with the Freshman Reception, which was a very successful Record Hop”. Our project at the Berlin Fair showed good class spirit and we all felt certain that a great year was in store for us. April came, much too soon, and so did Senior Play time, succeeded by the Senior Ball and Class Night. As we march down the aisle to the familiar strains of Pomp and Circumstance”, we think of how quickly four years have passed. We have been through thick and thin together as a class, but now we must go our separate ways. Life turns another page where we find ourselves beginning a new chapter. 23
