Calvin E. Wilcox, B.S., Ed.M., Ph.D. TO THE CLASS OF 1940 GREETINGS As the shadows of retreating years fall across the path of your retreating youth, may you appreciate the sterling qualities of American culture. This culture has a back- ground of solidarity. Men and women still exemplify the free and open spirit of their forefathers. These forefathers lived independently by the fidelity of their work. Alien agitators and radical misfits failed to embitter their hearts because they received a fair recompense for honest labor. If, in the future, this nation is to more nearly approach that goal of human rights where men are free, independent, and self-reliant, such progress must be based upon the American principle of honest effort. Calvin E. Wilcox, Superintendent.
