Industrial Arts Dept. Offers Wide Variety MR. WARREN CARLUND MR. HERBERT CONSTANT Since it offers more than fourteen different types of classes, the Industrial Arts Department is probably one of the most diverse at BHS. One of the new ideas to be tried is a program call Career Explorations. This enables students involved in the department to spend half of the day working on different projects for com- munity improvement. This program originally applied in the summer session, according to Mr. Rajander, the department head, was continued in the spring semester. Other programs tried during the year were flexible sched- uling and open laboratory. The experiment allowed students not involved in the Industrial Arts Department to come in and work on any type project provided the student has passed the necessary safety test. MR. PAD Department Most Active As the most active department at BHS, PAD supplied talent for all plays, school concerts and dance productions, provided half-time shows, traveled to various music festivals and competed with other high school and college groups for awards. In addition, the department plann ed to initiate several new courses and expand its present classes. Mr. Haynes, Orchestra conductor, completed a tour in Africa last summer, exploring the possibility of offering a separate class on African music rather than including it within the music course. MR.
