SHHHH HI IIHHMPIHNSHIP Azure s k 1 e Q russet lea- ves mingled with the cheering crowds provide a background for the pulsepounding excite- ment of a touchdown. No season but autumn could quite capture the tantilizing virile, spirit of football! And no other figure could introduce this color as well as our own whim- sical Rusty. Twenty-four hard earned little shining gold footballs dangling proud- ly from the necks oftwenty-three letter- winning champs and one very proud coach tell the story of a rough and tough, rack- 'em and stack'em football season in which the eager beaver Watchdogs copped the Big Seven conference. The Watchdogs rugged line and alert back- field shut out conference competition this sea- son by not once alowing them in scoring territory leaving total scores at 70 to O. The case history of these champions reveals that they started the season with a slightly green look but steadily improved as they defeated the Viborg Vikings 12-O, edged out Parker 7-O, and trounced the Canton C-Hawks 26-O. On the BHS Homecoming day they held their own xathey battled to a scoreless tie with the Hurley Bulldogs. Midst mud and rain they cleaned the Lennox Orioles 12-O, leaving only unbeaten Center- ville between the Watchdogs and their gold footballs. With the championship at stake and the gold footballs in mind the Watchdogs went to tangle with their traditional rivals, the Centerville Tornadoes. Defeating them 13 to O they brought home their championship.
