CLASS HISTORY Early in September in 1940 was the first days of school for five little first gradersg They were: Jerry Haase, Bud Widick, Celia Widick, Lee Gardner and Alice Clover. Our teacher was Bernice Campbell, , In our second year we still had Bernice Campbell as our teacher and we lost from our class, Alice Clover. ,I In our third year Mrs. C. Jennings was our teacher. We gained Bill Elliott, Harold Criman, Eldon Moran and Janice Wilson and we lost Lee Gardner at the end of the term On our fourth year Miss Dollie Bender was our teacher. We gained Buddy Church, Jessie Church, Kenneth Simmons, Shirley Bingham, Frank Marley and Marvin Lix, We lost Bud Widick, Celia Widick, Harold Criman, Shirley Bingham and Eldon Moran at the endiof the term. J y ' ' J In our fifth year our teacher was Miss Vida O'Donnell. We lost Marvin Lix at the end of the first semester. We lost Jessie Church and Janice Wilson at the end of the term. In our sixth year we gained Marjorie Taylor, Gene Marshall, and Jimmy Grennan, We lost Buddy Church. Miss Mary Peterson was our teacher. In our seventh year Harry Cameron was our teacher. We gained Shirley Whitson, Roy Penner, Carolyn Lygrisse, Leona Beeman, Kenneth Harder. We lost Marjorie Taylor, Leona Beeman and Frank Marley at the end of the term. We lost Kenneth Simmons at the end of the first semester. I In our eighth year we gained Thomas Saft, Ray Stareck and lost Kenneth Harder and Gene Marshall at the end of the term, This made a total of ten students graduating from the eighth grade with Mrs. Mary Rector as our teacher. Eleven green Freshman enrolled in the fall of 1948. They Were: Shirley Whitson, S Fredrick Fuller, Leona Fuller, Roy Penner, Carolyn Lygrisse, Bill Elliott, Jerry Haase, Jimmy Grennan, Thomas Saft, Ray Stareck, and Bill Wing. Mrs, Josephine Burnside was chosen as our sponsor. Leona Fuller was chosen class queen. Marlene White came the second semester. ,

CLASS HISTORY fcontinuedj The Sophomore Class of 1949 and 1950 was: Shirley Whitson, Fredrick Fuller, Roy Penner, Carolyn Lygrisse, Bill Elliott, Jerry Haase, Jimmy Grennan, Thomas Saft, Ray Stareck and Bill Wing. Ramona Stringer of Derby High School and Lawrence Tobin and Frank Marley of Wichita schools also joined our class, Mr. Vernon Horney was chosen as our sponsor. Bill Elliott and Carolyn Lygrissewerechosen as class king and queen, Marlene White left us at the end of the first semester and Ray Stareck and Bill Wing left at the end of the term. Twelve Juniors enrolled in the fall of 1950 and chose Mr. Kenneth Errett as their class Sponsor. They were: Shirley Whitson, Fredrick Fuller, Leona Fuller, Roy Penner, Carolyn Lygrisse, Bill Elliott, Jerry Haase, Jimmy Grennan, Thomas Saft, Ramona Stringer, Lawrence Tobin and Frank Marley. Leona Fuller and Roy Penner were chosen as class king and queen. This year was a very successful year for us, We had concessions at all athletic activities, We gave our Junior play The Little Clodhopper, with Mrs. Burnside directing. We gave the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Polar Bear in Wichita, Frank Marley and Ramona Stringer left us at thc end of the term. Eleven brilliant Seniors entered school in the fall of 1951. They were: Shirley Whitson Fredrick Fuller, Leona Fuller, Roy Penner, Carolyn Lygrisse, Bill Elliott, Jerry Haase, Jimmy Grennan, Thomas Saft, Lawrence Tobin and Lois Vosler. Lois Vosler came from Madison High School, Our class officers for this year were: President--Carolyn Lygrisse, Vice-president--Shirley Whitson, Secretary-treasurer--Lois Vosler, Reporter--Roy Penner Mr. Robert Pellett was chosen as our sponsor. Fredrick Fuller and Carolyn Lygrisse were chosen as our class king and queen. We had the sponsorship of the School Carnival held October 26. Our Senior play was presented on April 25, with Mrs. Burnside directing. We have all worked hard and looked forward to our Senior Trip to be taken late in May, Our class has always been outstanding in schoolactivities, music, athletics, drama and other events, We are certain that our Senior year has been the most happy and memorable year of all.
