CLASS PROPHECY Today when I visited the campus of our old Alma Mater on the sixth anniversary of our graduation, my eye fell on the Iris garden which was planted by our class on our graduation day. The, dew drops, still on the petals, reflected the sunlight and the brightness of them reminded me of the brilliant success which had befallen each of my classmates. As this reflection caught me day dreaming, I saw in each dew drop an image of my classmates. The reflection showed me that: Maurice Baker is now editor of the South’s leading newspaper “The Southern Sun.” Bobby Benton is working on the research of the new jet motor which is to be introduced in the 1960 Ford. Joyce Byrum is still with Belk’s as an expert fur designer. Shirley Craig is teaching figure skating at the local skating rink which will now accommodate five hundred skeaters. Erwin Elms is manager of the Dixie Home Store in Rock Hill. Mary Lena Graham has just published her third volume of Advanced College Algebra. Shirley Haigler is now married to Mike and living in California where Mike is in the Navy. Roger Hall is seen driving a different car every day since he has taken over Hall Motor Com¬ pany. Bill Helira is making a top lead singing on Arthur Godfrey’s T.V. show. Geneva Helms and her husband Johnny are run¬ ning a dude ranch which is a popular vacation resort in the West. Joanne Helms is a registered Nurse in the Memori¬ al Hospital in Charlotte. Linda Helms Jones is a successful bridal consult¬ ant at Macy’s in New York since her own wed¬ ding was such a fashion filled event. Monte Helms is N.B.C.’s, number one, Television Star. Kay Kerley is a successful stenographer for Hall Motor Company. Doris Kilgore has risen from the drive-in category to dietition for the S W Cafeteria. Helen Laney has finally hit on a formula in Chem¬ istry on how to make instant Pepsi’s. Jack Love is now touring the country presenting a new businessman’s course of Public Speaking. Lenelle Mangum is now a well-known news photographer. Gertrude McCain now owns her own beauty salon. Ruth Neal McClellan is one of T.V.’s top com¬ mentators on foreign affairs. Betty Ann McGinnis is now originator of the cur¬ rent rage of costume jewelry. Shirley McGinnis is now the efficient secretary who keeps everything going while Jack Love is on ris tours. Coleen Moore is make-up director for Universal- Motion Pictures. W. C. “Bud” Mullis has gone down in Baseball’s hall of fame since he topped Babe Ruth’s home- run record. Earl Price has convinced the nation that his theory proves work is nothing to be afraid of since he lies down beside it and goes to sleep. Kathlee Price is the star who won the “oscar” for the most outstanding movie actress this year. Shirley Quick is now in charge of the orphanage for refugee children. Calvin Richardson has formed a quartet of his own which has stolen the show from the once popular Rangers’ Quartet. Worth Riggins is now arranging music featured in the current Hillbilly Hits. Donald Rummage is now a successful dance in¬ structor at Arthur Murray’s studio. Ruth Simpson has at last put her shorthand ability to work as David’s secretary. Everette Taylor is now manager of a nation-wide scenic tour bus line. David Terry is owner of Terry’s Drug Store, for¬ merly known as Secrest Drug Store. Johny Tsitouris is pitching professional baseball for the Dodgers with a salary of $6,000 a month. Jerry Weir is married to Bill, and teaching typing at Wingate High School, Wingate, N. C.
