GEORGE PEAPPLES Valeclictorian George Peapples, Valedictorian of the Senior Class, has led a very busy three years. He has maiored in English, Mathematics and science. His minors are Social Studies and Latin. George has also participated in many extra and curricular activities. Among these are the Student Coun- cil, Mu Alpha Theta, Varsity Club, HiY, National Honor Society and Band. George as a senior holds the position of Mayor of Benton Harbor High School. His ability as an athlete is well known in this community. He was a starting guard for the basketball team and has done well in tennis and cross country. The past three years during football season you have seen George lead the excellent marching band as drum maior. As far as his future is concerned, George doesn't have any definite plans except to go to the University of Michigan. ALVIN FILSTRUP Salutatorian Alvin was chosen salutatorian of the i958 senior class. He has maiored in English, Mathematics, and Industrial Arts while his minors were science and social studies. Besides carrying heavy schedules all four years he has also been active in sports, clubs, and other extracurricular ac- tivities. He was on the cross country team in his sophomore and iunior years and also the golf team in his sophomore year. He was Business Manager of the Greybric Staff, on the Tiger Staff, in the Hi-Y Club, Spanish Club, J.A., National Honor Society and was president Of The Math Club. VALERIE FISHER Class Speaker Valerie Fisher has been selected by the senior class to be one of the speakers for graduation this June. Valerie has maiors in English, Mathe- matics, and natural science. Latin, French, and social studies are her minors. ln addition to her school work, Valerie is very active in extra- curricular activities. She has been a member of the band four years and is serving as Secretary of the band this year. She was in the Orchestra when she was a sophomore. She has been very active in the vocal de- partment during her four years in high school and is currently on the executive board. Valerie has been in the Biology Club for three years. She has been a member of the honorary groups of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society for her iunior and senior years. Valerie was elected to Promethean in her senior year. Valerie plans to attend North- western University next year. RICHARD SMALL Class Speaker Richard Small is one of the most active Seniors in the class of '58, He is a member of the National Honor Society, President of Biology Club, Editor of the Greybric, active member of Hi-Y, member of the Tennis team and in the Band. Besides these extracurricular activities he has maintained a 3.6 grade average and has maiors in English, Mathematics, science, and in social studies. Dick has made no definite plans for the future but is interested in medicine. 8
