G 33? li l l NTT"---.. 'Chet shoots as the contest tightens." "Click, click B.H. 5l MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 47 This Friday night was a time of sweet revenge for the Tigers and their fans. After one of the most hotly contested games in the history of the Colfax gym, our number one rated Bengals emerged victors over defending state champion Heights, thus avenging, quite satisfactorily, three straight losses to the up-state Tigers last season, one of which came in the state semi-finals. Harbor never trailed all through the game, although the lead exceeded 6 points only once. Midway through the fourth quarter, after a barrage of shots during which neither team was able to buy a basket, our Tigers zoomed to an eight point lead, only to see it shrink to one a minute later. The issue was very much in doubt until the last seconds when George Peapples sunk four straight points to cinch the game. Chester Walker was high man for B.H.H.S. with l5, but balanced scoring was the order of the night as Ron Lange swished 14, George ll, and Duane Dunbar 9. 1: Q c I -. .W R I My -A N. ,W We as A. , J 1' aw' VX..- .ff

DUANE DUNBAR GEORGE PEAPPLES B.H. 64 GRAND HAVEN 41 Benton Harbor needed a mere ten minutes to smother Grand Haven for win number eight as the score early in the second quarter was a staggering 34-6. At this point the Bucs gave up the ghost and stalled in an attempt to keep the score from being ridiculous. The starting five again got a period-long rest which resulted in ten Tigers breaking into the scoring column. Walker led the parade with 22, while Lange, whose number is l3, scored lust that many and Yarbrough tallied 8. B.H. 61 MUSKEGON 53 The Tigers weathered one ot their worst scares of the season as the Big Reds, seemingly out of the picture after being down 22-ll at the end of the first quarter, fought to within one point of our first-rated Tigers early in the third frame. The ball-hawking floor play and clutch shooting of guard George Peapples, with able assistance from the other half of the guard position, Duane Dun- bar, pulled the game out of the fire for Benton Harbor's seventh straight conquest. Muskegon triple-teamed Chet Walker and held him to his lowest of the season, i2 points, but Peapples and Dunbar dumped l4 each to fill in the gap very nicely. "Bruce tries one, Grand Haven watches." i

B.H. 63 NILES 45 Mickey Yarbrough scored over 20 points for the first tirne in his varsity career to pace the Orange and Black squad to a well-earned victory over the Vikings of Niles. Tiger domination of the back- boards was a main feature in this tilt as they took 78 shots-27 more than Niles could get away. Walker was held to only 17 points and Ron Lange swished 1 i. "Your turn, Chet." "George lays in two." B.H. 54 HOLLAND 44 After their prestige-filled conquest of Muskegon Heights, our high-flying Tigers had difficulty get- ting their feet back on the ground as they eased past the Dutchmen by IO points. Ron Lange kept Harbor in the game in the first half, scoring I4 of his 16 points. Chet Walker took over in the sec- ond half, sinking a total of 17 after a meager 5- point first half.
