"Two for Dunbar."
B.H. 73 KALAMAZOO 37
All was gloom around the Central gym this
wintry eve as the highflying Tigers invaded
Maroon Giant territory and proceeded to hand
them the worst defeat ever absorbed by a Kazoo
team. ln an attempt to prevent this slaughter, the
Giants zoned Chet Walker, but this was to no
avail as senior forward Ron Lange had a field day
with his lump shot, swishing 18. Walker was held
to 20, his lowest of the young season, while
Mickey Yarbrough hit for 12.
B.H. 83 CHICAGO TULEY 54
HOT was the word for B.H.H.S. this night as our
Tigers ringed 6096 of their shots for the first three
quarters and 53fX: for the game to leave the
Chicago invaders reeling in the wake of the blast.
Harbor featured tour players in double figures
as Chet Walker drilled through a grand total of
Sl, Mickey Yarbrough lo, Duane Dunbar 12, and
Ron Lange ll.

The Tigers of Benton Harbor attained their most
successful season since 1945. Basking in the spot-
light of a season-long rating as the best team in
the state, they missed a perfect season by eight
points, losing to defending state champs Muske-
gon Heights after winning l3 straight. The out-
standing feature of Farnum's Five was the ability
of any one of them to walk away with high
scoring if necessary. Chester Walker led the Tigers
with a 23-7 average, but the other four were
high scorers at least once during the year. Here
follows a game-by-game account of a great Tiger
B.H. 50 HAMMOND MORTON 37
A control-ball Morton team and new rules corn-
bined to hold the Tigers to a mere 50 points in the
kickoff game of a great season. The contest had
its high spot when reserve guard Charlie Williams
came off the bench to score 4 straight points and
set up two more to pull a doubtful game out of
the fire and win for himself the season-long favor
of the fans.

B.H. 76 GRAND HAVEN 52
Chester Walker came within three points of
tying the B.H.H.S. personal scoring record which
he set last season as he tallied 37 to contribute
greatly to the defeat of the Grand Haven Bucs. A
28-point fourth quarter, with 16 of those going
to Walker, enabled the Tigers to sew up a
game that had been surprisingly close for the
first three quarters. The Tigers led by only nine
points at the fourth quarter face-off.

B.H. 74 SOUTH BEND WASHINGTON 61
Chester Walker and his 37 points were a main-
stay in this fast-moving contest. At certain points
in the game, any person attempting to follow the
progress of the ball as it zoomed from basket to
basket on the short court, would be in dire dan-
ger of suffering a sprained neck. The game, until
the Tigers cinched the issue late in the fourth
quarter on free throws, was a coach's nightmare
as seemingly comfortable leads of TO or T2 points
had a disturbing habit of vanishing to 2 or 3.
Other high scorers for the Tigers were Dunbar
with 13 and Lange with 9.

"Ron breaks through."
B.H. 69 HOLLAND 54
The relativelyclose 'Final score of this tilt is not
a fair testimony to the performance of our Tigers.
Holland was never in the game and coach Farnum
saw tit to yank his entire first string at the end
of the third quarter. Although Holland managed
to hold Walker to 17 points the balanced scoring
of the rest of the team easily overcame this diffi-
culty. Dunbar sank l4, Lange ll, Yarbrough 9,
and Peapples 8.
