The advanced choir is the principal performing group of the vocal department
representing the high school to the public. More advanced study ot various styles
and types of choral music is the work of this group.
The choir's two biggest projects of the year are the Christmas musicale and the
operetta. This yearis operetta was Rogers and Hammersteinis '4Oklahoma.', Charlotte
Schuster and Nelson Carlock played the romantic Laury and Curly, while Virginia
Govatas portrayed the "innocent" Ado Annie with Mike Yore as her ever-faithful
beau. Audience, as well as Cast, heartily enjoyed the terrific production.
Another activity of the choir is the Spring Music Festival where it is one of a
number of choirs participating. The choir also sings at graduation and baccalaureate.
A cantata, given in the spring. serves as a swan song for the senior members of the

This choir is the stepping stone into the advanced choir. In fact, those interested
in membership in the advanced choir should consider at least one semester of
beginning choir as preparation. There are approximately seventy-five students of
all four grades in it. Boys, especially tenors, are in the minority. They could be an
interesting and helpful addition. The choir is good training in mixed singing.
The past year's curriculum included participation in the musical, "Oklahoma,"
open house, the cantata, and commencement.
