BULLETIN! TRIAL OF JANITORS OPENS The courtroom of Judge Chris Wolske was jammed today, as participants and spectators alike thronged into the court house. Sheriff Elliott Garb remarked that he had never seen so many people at a trial. Attorney for the defense, Don Parks, and prosecuting attorney, Frank Eagler, each predict an early victory. Serving on the jury are: Joyce Abrams, retired Naval admiral, Pat DePalma, veterinariang Jerry Wert, earmuff manufacturerg Betty Floyd, head of a nursing school: Bob Rice, who puts the holes in ftakes them out of?l doughnutsg Bill Marquart, math professor at PUg Ken Krauel, who married the popular "Bubbles LaRue" fformerly Sue Herviglg Vernell Duckett, head of an orphanageg Sharon Kruggel, who puts teeth in combsg Jo Ann Thornton, a chimney-sweepg Sharon Crossman, inventor of vitamins Z12, Z93, and Z4-17, and Dick Taylor, fish net mender. Clerk Annette Marceau swore in the jury, and the trial began. Barbara Schott, bus driver, was the only witness to testify this morning. Terry Mosher, prison warden, and his two most trusted guards, Ron Wheeler and John Keana, were present throughout the trial, so it looks as though an early ending is in sight. Meanwhile, in the gallery, several notable faces were seen. Among them were: Andrea Gorove and Sharon Cohen, who just returned from an expedition to the South Poleg Cynthia Williams, famed portrait painterg Maria Dubowic, acclaimed the world over for her operatic voiceg Judy Becker, race track owner, and Sandy Prillwitz, horse trainerg Ronald Bublick, who makes button-holes for ivy-league shirts, Tom Garland, president of the Baby-Sitters Union, Mary Morgan, who discovered "Morgan's Modern Method for Speed-Reading" taught in all schools today, Ron Larson, a stamp licker at the post office, Alan Workinger, a skin diver: Ellen Gustafson, concert pianist, DeWayne Lanham, Ballet Master, and part of his troupe: Jane Heiniche, Carol Schuhknecht, and Suzanne Masters, Michael Jeffrey, who puts the rings in the telephone, Liane Buck and Judy Johnson, partners in the multi-billion-dollar g'Elvis', button business, Susan Johnson, who teaches underwater basket-weavingg and Sharon Fletcher, who trains boxing kangaroos. Unable to attend the trial, but sending word that he hoped his old friends were doing' well, was billionaire Rich Gavrilovich. Thus ended the first day of the trial. P The following articles appeared in the June 5, 1977, edition of the News-Palladium fowned by Marvin Teske, published by Vernon-Baker, and sold by newsboy Mike Pinkl : CABANA CLUB OPENING MBANG-UP" AFFAIR by Jeri Briney Just as Benton Harbor Mayor Larry Wadley tassisted by his secretary, Kathryn Christi was about to cut the ribbon officially opening the magnificent new Cabana Club owned by Jerry Lutz, janitor David Handy and janitress Wanda Heier staged a daring hold-up. By filling their scrub buckets with soap flakes, they succeeded in scooping up nearly 551,000,000 behind a screen of bubbles. Unfortunately for the thieves, four alert policemen, Gus Hinkleman. John Kosick, David Longacre, and Ron Taylor, apprehended them at the door. STAR-STUDDED OPENING COLOSSAL SUCCESS by Jo Ann Marutz The opening of Jerry Lutz's fabulous Cabana Club found many prominent person- ages in attendance. Some of those present were: Tom Bloom, notorious novelist fhis newest book, "War Cry," has been banned in 48 statesl with Carol Anderson, leader of the famed allQgirl band lwhose theme song was written by the talented composer, Norma Ortwiglg Phil Murray, famed for his 60-year muscle-building plan, with Maria Contreras, exotic toreadorg Ron Ravitch, current teen-age film idol, squiring Sue Black lwho launched her film-land career in the sensational movie, "Doll Babyvig and Helmut Kolig, Austrian ambassador to the United States, escorting Joan Gregory, optical sign painter. Also attending the gala event were Jim Culver- house, suspender tycoon, and his manager, Sandy Priebeg Dale Kesler, prominent bird-watcher, and Carolyn Mandarino, renowned adventurer who recently returned from a safari into the interior regions of Sodusg and the wealthy, eligible bachelor, Lynn Stone fowner of the Stone Quarry, from which 3 billion dollarsaworth of rock is removed dailyl and Marcia Lape, who discovered Element Q, newest in the atomic field, in the rock in Stone's Quarry. Attending the affair Hen masse" were athletes Jim Green and Bill Rodgers, boxers who fought to a 27-round draw for the World Heavyweight crown, referee for the bout, Harry Bischoff, Arleen Patterson, Olympic skating star, and Bob Gideon, track star who broke the record for the 4-minute mile by doing it in 11 days, 12 hours, 26 minutes, and 15 seconds. Also on hand for the opening was Mary Gale, who arrived with seven of her thirteen children. Mary is currently living in the "Windy Cityl' rearing her little "Gales" The opening of the club itself was magnificent. The beautiful decorating was done by the talented Roselyn Brant. Entertainment was provided by the Leroy Henry combo, composed of Theron Caldwell, John Haas, and Jerry Lockman, plus singer Lodie Freeman. The noted dance team of Mary Ann Palmert and David Riff also entertained. Employed at the club are several members of the '57 graduating class. Among them were: Lindsey Wilhite, Jim Abshier, Larry Easton, Jim Brown, waiters, Barry Baker, bouncer, Bob Bloom, chef, Shirley Friske, cigarette girl, Wyntie Arford, club photographer, Jody Payne, flower saleswomang aid Larry Lutz, Donna Asbury, and Judy Dukesherer, bartenders.
