On September of 1949 ninety-seven green little Freshmen entered the sacred portals
of Bent County High School.
They were initiated in the usual manner with lipstick and all the trimmings. On the
third day they came up the steps looking like people from Mars with their green noses
and outlandish clothes. They vowed then and there to change this savage initiation if
they only lived long enough to become Sophomores.
The class was organized with Diane Butner, Presidentg Judy Taliaferro, Vice Presi-
dentg Kenny jantzen, Secretary, and Jeanne Burger, Treasurer.
AWhen September of 1950 rolled around a group of wiser students entered Bent
County High School. Their first project was Freshman initiation and they ordered blue
and white beanies that all Freshmen were required to wear. This was considered a great
improvement over previous initiations.
The class has been well represented in school activities and hopes to continue to do so.
They also hope to uphold the high standards of B. C. H. S. and do better than ever
in the years to come.
The Sophomores chose as their candidate for Santa Fe Trail Queen, jean McBride.
