sf' Musucxn ACTI mes JU,-f The mixed glee club under the direction of Mrs. Rita Japp partici- pated in both conference clinics--the ENC at Papillion in November and the ECNC at Bennlngton in March A girls' trio composed of Judy Miles, Cheryl Penke, and Susan Nelson contributed a number at the ECNC clinic For educatlon week the mixed chorus prepared a program which was presented before the P T A Only the girls' glee club members were entered ln the District bon test at Wahoo on April 22 Special entries were the sextette, trio, piano solos, and vocal solos The sextette composed of Judy, Susan, Marlene, Jodeen, Jodene, and Cheryl received an excellent rating Lois, Carol, and Janet made up the trio and had a good rating Joann's and Elizabeth's piano solos received good and excellent ratings, respective ly Of the vocal solo entrants Shirley, Joann, Susan, Carol, Lois, and Janet all but one rated excellent Besides this, some of the girls appeared on various programs during the year DRAMATICS The speech activities for the 1959 60 school year began Wltk work n 'Charlies Pet Ghost H nhe play was prepared for the ECNC One Act Play Contest held at Herman on November 12 Characters for the play were Charlle Howard, Bill Nelson, Sis Howard, Lois Mohr, Jac Howard, Terry Loptin, Maryanne Miles, Judy Miles, Nancy, Carol Johnsen, Jo ie, Hogene Tlvey, and Mike was played by nJ1mn Thomsen Others who trled out for the play were Melvin Rathgen, Elizabeth Wolff, Jeanine Petersen, Clarence Laaker, Janet Perchal, Shirley Rhoads, and Roger Wulf The play recelved an excellent rating After many weeks of work on the different efforts in declam Ben nington was host to the NC dramatlcs contest held on February 18 For Bennlngton in the Oral interpretation of prose literature was E1lZ8b6th bolff with an excellent rating The Bennington repre entatives on the discussion were 'Bohn Dornaoker and Clarence Laaker who received an ex cellent and a good respectlvely Under the ra io and television com en tary Roger Wulf recelved a good 'Bill' Nelson brought the school a ex Wilke in the original public address In the poetry reading Lois Mohr received a superior rating Jim' Muller the interpretative public ad dres recelved a good And a good w s also received in the oral inter pretation of drama in which Rogene Tivey, Jeanine Petersen, Janet Perchal, Shirley Rhoads, and Helen Llesche participated The day's program was closed with the one act plays Dennineton received a good w th Lois Mohr, Judy Miles, Janet Perchal, Clarence Laaker, Carol Johnsen, Bill Nelson, and Donald Laaker partlcipatlng in the play Listen Dad The next activity scheduled was a dramatics contest to be held in Craig on March 3 hven with the extremely bad weather Bennington, par ticipating in every event, totaled up thirty seven points, just one short of the winning school For Bennington, Clarence Laaker received a superior and Bob' Dornacker an excellent ln the discussion Lois Mohr again received a superior 1D the poetry readlng Under the lnterpreta tlve public address 'Jimn Muller received a good Mary Dyer received an excellent on her original public address For his radio and television news commentary, Roger Wulf recelved a good Elizabeth Wolff secured an excellent on oral lnterpretatlon of prose literature The oral lnterpretation of drama recelved a superior The participants were hogene Tivey, 'Billn Nelson, Bruce Vaughn, Shirley Rhoads, and Jane Perchal who read a cuttlng from 'The Diary of Anne Frank H . 0 I 0 I O . , , - l P 0 I 0 -- -- , O O l n 'l , O . , ' H H , , k - u V S ' . - n . 0 .
