Lillian Paasch, Chuck Witte, Gene Cloudt, Malvin Jitt, Donna Kominek Declamatory work this year did not involve but a comparatively small number of people For some reason interest was lacking The above eight people took part There was no one in the oririnal oratory group Donna was at first interested but then decided to ao out for extenporaneous since there was no one in this division Gene Cloudt and Lillian Paasch went out for poetry reading, Melvin Vitt and U'huck' Nitte for newscastinp, Norma Bevelheimer for humorous readinv, Barbara Gr y for dramatic, Donna Kominek for extemporaneous, Rose Mary Fansen for lnterpretative oratory For an elimination in the Qroups where there were two, the student body were permitted to make a decision As a part of their English work they were to put down reasons for their choice Malvin was chosen for newscastina and Lillian for poetry reading The ECPC Declamatory Contest was held at Benninvton on Friday, March 2 The B nninaton contestants gave the followinv readinvs and received these ratings orna 'Wiss Minerva and William Green Hill' Excellent, Barbara 'Sinvapore Spider Exc llent, Rose Mary Highway Ho lc de Good, Donna Should Ne Abolish Our ool's Prayer wood Arlinvton received the trophy for this contest On Tuesday, March 13 the One Act Play Contest was held at Fort Calhoun Six of the Benningtor students presented the play, In the Shadows The cast included the Following students Barbara Gray as DONNA SULLIVAN, John Witt, BIWF SULLIVAN, Lavern Logeman, HULRY SULLIVAN, Rose Mary Hansen, MAURREN NOR TON Norma Bevelheimer, DOTTIE N LSON, and Jerry Gottsch, OFFICER NELSON Donna kominek, Malvin Jitt, Eugene Eicke, and Euzene Cloudt also expressed their wishes of beinv in the play Donna and Melvin were in the try outs before a complete decision was made 49-'1 !
