It is our hope that through their efforts—and our own to come—we may one day soon obtain man's constant goal of World Peace. 6 JAMES A HOW A S JR Af PO' 'j Rev. Norbert Ozimek, OSB. A man of many talents, Father Norbert is often seen about campus aiding students in many different activities. His deep concern for B.H.S. and its students is shown by his willingness to help students. With admiration and deep appreciation the students of B.H.S. would like to congratulate Father Norbert on this solemn occasion. Checking in on the treasury are Student Counci' officers (L R) Ron Twordy. secretary: Dave Plisga, prosidont: Chuck Paisa, trcasuror: and Frank Daray. vice-president. Many changes come about in the Student Council this past year. Using the new constitution voted in by last year's Student Council, representatives were chosen from homerooms, instead of from organizations, as was done formerly. Using its new power to the fullest extent, the Council sponsored several activities and drives. Freshman initiation was carried out in successful and orderly fashion. The intramural program this year was one of the Student Council's new responsibilities. This year’s Student Council has shown the way that more effective student government may be accomplished. The size and precision of the band has slowly grown until this year almost seventy men marched at our footba I games. The band can look with pride on its past for the past is a valuable foundation for the future. This thought has spurred the band on to higher achievement, since it realizes that excellence in musical skills is a growing process, not something accomplished overnight. As in the past, the band again participated in several civic and neighborhood ceremonies, as well as at the high school Christmas concert. This year, new faces are seen in the Band Department. Returning from a year of studies, the new Band Moderator is Father Vincent, OSB. The new Band Director is Mr. James Crossley. who obtained his musical experience at Baldwin-Wal-lace. Friends, relatives, clergymen, and students congregated in St. Benedict's Church for the requiem mass of Rev. Benedict Dobrancin, O.S.B. This caused a touch of sadness to overshadow the school year. The popular priest died on Dec. I. 1967. Father Benedict was born on July 27, 1912, in Slovakia. He was ordained in St. John's Cathedral on April 2, 1936. He served as a teacher at Benedictine High School for six years (1939-1945). The clergyman was principal for two terms (1951-1957) and (1964-1966). Father Benedict was largely responsible for Benedictine’s entrance into the North Central Association of Colleges Secondary Schools. . . . a Time of Joy A gladsome event in any priest's life occured in 1968. Father Florian celebrated his silver anniversary as a priest. He was born in Horton. West Va. on Jan. 30, 1916. He was a member of Benedictine's 1934 graduating class. He received Holy Orders on March 20. 1943. at St. John's Cathedral. Father Florian has served as a member of the faculty, Dads Club Moderator, Golf Coach, Freshman Football and Basketball Coach, Varsity Baseball Coach, and Band Moderator. Rev.
