Eight of us graduated from the eighth grade we were: Nadine Ambrose, Carole Morrison, Sadie West, Mary Burt, Bill Smith, Robert Baughn, Roger Ford, and Howard Shively. We gained Sharon Englebrecht and Arzada Ogle from other schools. During the year we lost Sharon Englebrecht. Our sponsor was Mr. Aase. Eight of us survived our Freshman year and came back in 1954 as Sophomores we were: Howard Shively, Roger Ford, Robert Baughn, Bill Smith, Nadine Ambrose, Arzada Ogle, Carole Morrison, and Mary Burt. Our sponsor was Mr s. Marr. Our Junior year we came back eager for school, less one member, Robert Baughn We tackled the operation of the concession stands with great enthusiasm. The second semester we gained Gene White but lost him after a few months. For our Junior Play we gave Truth Takes a Holiday . Our Junior -Senior Banquet waspgiven this year. The theme was Evening in Paris . Miss Marolyn Moore was our sponsor. In September 1956, we found we were entering our Senior year with the responsibility of setting an example for the lower classes. We attended the Junior- Senior Banquet as guests of the Juniors. We gave our play Two Days to Marry . Mr. Falletti was our sponsor. We feel we have accomplished much during the years we have attendedhigh school here, we hope we can make the best of what we have learned. I, Arzada Ogle will my curly hair to Leslie Gallon and my ability to argue with Mr. Falletti in English to Peggy House. I, Mary Burt will my good grades to Donna, if she can find them and my cheerleading suit to anyone who can wear it. I, Nadine Ambrose will my ability to sing to Shirley Robinson and mY ability to pitch to Geneva Tophan. Hope she has more luck with it than I did I, Howard Shively will all my girl friends in the surrounding areas to Donnie Reiswig and my athletic ability, which I don't have, to anyone who Can find it. I, Roger Ford will my ability to sing like Elvis Presley to Ronnie Haller and my way with the girls to anyone who thinks they can have better luck than I did. In the presence of witnesses: we hereby set our hand and seal, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-seven A. D. Senior Class B enedict, Kansas Class Prophecy As we gaze into our crystal ball, we find that it is now 1967. Much has been changed during the last ten years. Let us see what the seniors of 1957 and their sponsor are doing. Howard Shively is now teaching in the Jungles of Africa. We hear Chimpanzees make pretty good students and that they catch on to Howard's tricks real fast. Roger Ford has become Elvis Presleyll. He Makes his nightly appearances at the Alcatraz Pretzel Club. His latest record is Kill Me Tinder. Mary Burt is now a girls' coach at U. C. L. A. She finds it sort of hard to coach 300 girls during the day then go home and care for seven sons. Nadine Ambrose is now a pilot of her own Rocket ship and she takes trips to the moon to get cottage cheese for the Meadow Gold Company. Arzada Ogle is now up north driving Husky teams. She finds it very amusing watching the seals eat the fish which she carries to them. Mr. Falletti is now in the middle of the Saudi Desert on a chicken farm trying to manufacture a chicken who will lay atomic eggs. Z years History of the Eighth Grade Class of 1957 Eight years ago eleven little tots entered the first grade at Benedict Grade School. Of that group only three have stayed with the group to graduate with the class of 1957. These three are Charlene Tarter, Lester Floyd, and Leroy Joy. Other graduates include Dixie Robinson who has been with us for seven years, Neil Ford who has been here five years, Jimmie Scott for three years and John Gallon for two years. During the eight years, fourteen other boys and girls became members of the class for a time. Gary Morton, Rodney Folger, Joyce Morrison, Linda Blancett, and Cloyde Shoaf were with us for seven years, Alfreda McCarty stayed four years, and Charlotte Nixion, Donald Cary, Perry Walkins, Micky Harmon, and Raymond Johnson each tarried only one year. Our class enrollment is seven. lt really wasn't necessary to name the members for not one of them has forgotten his name, not even his middle one. Our average age is thirteen years, our average height is 5lf2 feet, and our average weight is 100 pounds: We have attended grade school because we had to, to get out of work -at home, and to have a good time. The girls in the class are honorary members of the Royal Order of D'o Nothings, and the boys are charter members of the UnitedBrotherhood of Loafers. Charlene is boy crazy, Neil tries to sing like Elvis'P1'eS1ey. Leroy likes to tease Freddy Beck, and Lester prefers to tease Tweetie Pie, Jimmie thinks it would be fun to play softball with a thousand legged worm, John spends his time breaking the speed limit in his automobile, while Dixie's favorite pastime is chasing Lester all around Benedict. THIS PAGE IS BY COURTESY OF ERBE PLUMBING SHOP Fredonia, Kansas. Our Last Will and Testament The class of 1957, being of sound mind, with a few notable exceptions does hereby dispose of numerous possessions and talents by legal action as follows: John Gallon wills his gold plated feet to Jimmie Porter so that he might have something worth walking on. Neil Ford wills his ability to sing like Elvis Presley to Keith Hull so he will get worse grades in music class. Jimmie Scott wills his pealed head to Jerry Cook so he'll have more face to wash. Leroy Joy wills his great silver plated brain to Kenneth Stanislaus, the Frenchman, so he can get worse grades. Lester Floyd wills his blue suede shoes to Max Payne so Carol Gammel can dance on thern. Charlene Tarter wills her long nose to Phyllis North so she can get into everyone's business. Dixie Robinson wills her ability to sing, to Naomi Scott and Judy Brinkley. Signed this day, in the presence of deaf and dumb witnesses, ' Eighth Grade Class of 1957 THIS PAGE IS BY COURTESY OF ERBE PLUMBING SHOP Fredonia, Kansas, Class Prophecy T-:BVS g0 to the airfield to get in our new rocket ship called the Glip-Glop and fly to Australia to find Charlene Tarter taking high-jumping lessons from the Kangaroos. Now head for Mars to find Dixie Lee Robinson teaching the Martians how to sing, Love Me Tender . As we come back to earth we find John Gallon down at the South Pole selling rubber over-shoes and swimming masks to the Penguins. Now, northwest to China where we find Neil Ford selling knives and forks to the Chinese. As we refuel and go on, we find Jimmie Scott selling pekenese to the Eskimos to pull their dog sleds. Now we go to Africa to find Leroy Joy selling ten gallon cowboy hats to the natives to carry water in. Next we find Lester Floyd selling insulated bathing suits to the seals. Last, but not least, we find Richard Waymire giving swimming lessons to the monkeys on monkey island at Chanute. .TUDITH BRINKLEY KEITH HULL l KEN ST ANISLAUS 1 X PHY LLIS NORTH NAOMI SCOT T JERRY COOK MAX PAYNE Seventh Grade 1: 2-,-,,,.--- ' ...-5 , 511- Z JIMMIE PORTER -il JIMMIE JOY BILLIE ROBINSON JOE FORD Sixth Grade GREG PARSONS KAREN SHIVELY JUDITH WILSON NORMA ROBINSON BETTY GOFF JUANITA ROBINSON CAROL GAMMEL. ,JH Bi 2 'i ,f JY Y .L K1':. , gefv. 3I!I1ll'., , y SYLVIA FLOYD HERB Y HOUSE LARRY ANDERES JAMES GALLON Fifth Grade TERRY TOPHAM LARRY PAYNE CHRISTINE BECK MR.
