FOOTBALL FLASHES . . B. H. S. GRIDIRON SQUADS The first program in our sports broadcast is now under way: Belvidere had a continual scoring threat in Funderburg, Lincoln, and Wright. Passing was Bel- videre's specialty with Fundy mixing up a fake running attack with passes to Bus Wright and Bob Lincoln behind the fine support ofa light 'l 55 pound line and backfield which held well under pressure. Proof of the Buc's passing ability is the fact that only once were they blanked and over 40 points were scored on passes. Vic was faced at the beginning of this last season, with a very inexperienced team. His team had to be fashioned around only one heavyweight letterman and several graduated Ii htweights. To add to the difficulties, five boys were lost by scholastic ineligibility. This was also theBrst year for the Fresh-Soph ruling and Vic left the Fresh-Sophs intact that they might et valuable experience for next year. Such boys as Wright, who is a fine punter, Alderman, Sisson,gl'aylor, Klass, Packer, Farina, Moore, Lafferty, Comstock, Culvey, will all be heavies next year and coupled with the returning junior heavyweights. All signs point toward a team which next year will really be On the march' . SCORES HEAVYWEIGHT SCHEDULE LIGHTWEIGHT SCHEDULE Belvidere ........ 6 Dundee .......... Belvidere Dundee .......... Belvidere did have a good team, but the expected victories didn't materialize. Several ofthe defeats were very close and could have been easily turned into victories with a little scoring punch. The regional tournament was held at East l'ligh of Rockford this year. The Belvidere tournament squad was made up of lrunderburg, Lincoln, Schuett Bright, Wright, lVlcEachran, Nelson, Mclfeovvn, ond two sophomores, Packer and laylor, ln the first round, they were matched against Kirkland, the game ending in a Buc victory. ln the next game, Belvidere finished the '41 season by being defeated by East l-ligh, who vvent on to win the regional.
