THE EPHEBIAN SOCIETY is a city-wide organi- zation dedicated to civic service. Ephebians are chosen from among the Senior graduates by the faculty and by other Seniors on the basis of leadership, scholastic achievement, and outstanding character. Members pledge lifelong service toward civic betterment. We extend our deepest congratulations to this year ' s Ephebians, and we wisfi them the best of luck in the future. THE EULEXIAN SOCIETY, Belmont ' s distin- guished honor organization, is composed of members of the California Scholarship Federa- tion. At Belmont we are proud to have over a hundred students eligible for membership this year. The Eulexians have rendered and will continue to render distinguished and faithful service to Belmont throughout the years. THE CROWN HILL SOCIETY, newly estab- lished this year, is composed of students who have earnned pins for service to Belmont A plain pin, a one-jewel pin, or a two-jewel pin is awarded to those students who have given outstanding service to Belmont by extra- curricular activities. A faculty committee se- lects the honored recipients after evaluating record cards turned in by those who wish to be considered for these awards. Charter mem- bers are: Esther Baird and Ronald Young, ser- vice pin; Dieter Kammerer, one-jewel pin; Ar- turo Irizarry, two-jewel pin. DEPARTMENT AWARDS are given each semes- ter to Seniors chosen by the Department Heads as outstanding in their fields. Since, to qualify for an award a student must have at least five A ' s in that field, to received one is a great honor. Department Award winners of W ' 60 were: Business Education — Jeanne Law- rence; English — Bobbie Siminoski; Foreign Lan- guages — Marion Hoist, Bobbie Siminoski; Mu- sic and Fine Arts — Roger Lamm, Richard Stahl, Joe Lee; Social Studies — Arturo Irizarry, Roger Lamm, Phyllis Singer, Diana Weeks.
