WITH THE HELP OF THE STUDENT BODY and under the guidance of Miss Poore, Belmont ' s Summer Student Council accomplished the tasl s set before them by the midterm change. THE TWO MAIN ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE COUNCIL for the Semester of S ' 60 were the setting up of a new Clean Campus Program, since the previous one had become inef- fective, and the raising of additional money for the elecrtic scoreboard fund, on which Belmont has been working for a long time. This fund was considerably increased as a result of the successful cookie drive, carried oui on the Spring Semester. The purpose of this organization is to give recognition to, and to encourage, Belmont girls who exemplify the best qualities of character and conduct. Emphasis is placed on courtesy, scholar- ship, responsibility, kindliness, and service. The sponsor of this fine club is Miss Strain, our Girls ' Vice Principal. THE BELMONT KNIGHTS as an organization exists primarily for the purpose ot ren- dering service to school and community. The Knight is selected to membership on the basis of personal integrity, scholarship and leadership. He learns to serve, and through service develops further insights into leadership. His exemplary conduct sets a standard to be emulated by others.
