x was won by the stage set and the stage crew, who were well rewarded for their long hours of hard work. What fun we had during rehearsals! With members of the cast sharing cookies and candy at each meeting, many a pound was acquired. None of us will ever forget Marilou and Audre's wonderful open-house. Still not tired, eight Bellows Seniors went down to Arnold Con- stable's the next day to model in behalf of their Alma Mater. After the group walked the store all day and campaigned for votes, Marilou carried off the laurels. At the end of football season, the Lions Club of Mamaroneck gave a luncheon to honor our team and coaches. Inspiring speeches included remarks by Dick Lawrence, captain of theteam of '47, The Senior cheerleaders had fun serving the guests. On December 10 the Senior Class diminished to a mere shadow of its regular self when the male clan took off to Mitchell Field with Mr. McAloon. They came back full of fascinating stories, especially the one about the 'fmile climb up to the Control Tower. Came December 19 and the last school day of the old year. We presented Miss Southall with a white jewelry box and a silver brace- let to start it off. That vacation will go down in history marked by the Blizzard of '47. The new year brought a most welcome gift to the cheerleaders, as their long awaited uniforms arrived. They were immediately worn at the first January game against Eastchester. Around January 14 our class got seriously down to work. Mr. McAloon gave us Aptitude Tests for two days. Punch those little holes for your answers we heard until we found ourselves doing just that in our dreams. From these Crystal Ball Inquiries each of us discovered his unsuspected abilities. Mid-january arrived and the Senior girls' gym class became fam- ous as Cliff Blanchard snapped informal shots while the girls per- formed various gymnastic feats. With january also came mid-years, but the proverb, Every cloud has a silver lining, certainly applied in this case, the silver lining being the grand feeling we experienced after they were over! Especially the five-day holiday that followed. It was an interesting experience having Sten Stromholm as our visitor from Sweden for a month. While staying at the homes of Bill Falk, Bill Kuntz and Roland Santomenna, he attended our classes. We learned many unusual things about Scandinavian countries as well as our own country seen through Sten's eyes. But space is limited, Linda, and, like our reunion, these reminis- cences must come to a reluctant close. Yours for Auld Lang Syne, C 52 f ., ' if , ' x 59 THE CLASS OF '48.

Then the happy, sunlit day of June 23 finally arrived, when the Junior Class marched to the front of the auditorium to take its place as Seniors! At last our initial day as Seniors arrived, and once again into assembly we marched to the front rows of distinction. On the follow- ing day Miss Southall must have become suspicious of the talkers, for she rearranged our seats alphabetically with you, Linda, to watch over us. Can you remember the excitement on the second Tuesday when our beautiful Senior Rings finally arrived? That's one 3:23 none of us will ever forget. For a week we went around exhibiting our rings. With September the football season arrived. The varsity cheer- leaders from our Senior Class led a pep assembly for the first game the following Saturday. That day our team played host to Pleasant- ville-disastrously, but also on that day the newly formed Refreshment Committee, headed by George Hood, capitalized on the hunger of the on-lookers and netted the first S35 for our treasury. Its members were on the job for each succeeding game and, continuing through the basketball season, rolled up an impressive total. fThe Booster Pro- grams at the Rye-Bellows football game also aided our treasury.J Before Christmas we Seniors did a brisk business at selling cards and wrappings. In late September we elected our class officers, and chose Roland Santomenna, Ronald Barlow, Grace Bianca, and Charles Scherer, who have guided our affairs expertly. Remember the crowd that packed the gym that Friday October noontime? They came to back the football team and varsity cheer- leaders, whose idea it had been to hold a pep rally. The same enthusi- astic crowd mobbed the bon rally that night where the cheerleaders once more led everyone's favorite football yells and songs. Once again, on October ninth, we held one of those never-to-be- forgotten homeroom meetings, where we drew up plans for this year's Scraps and chose its editor, Sue Goyne. In the afternoon final try- outs for our Senior Play, Young April, were held and parts were assigned. From here until the opening night the cast worked labori- ously every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A During mid-October the Senior boys experienced their second child- hood as water pistols became the rage and the Senior Homeroom be- came hazardous. Later that month, we traveled to Lincoln Studios to have our gradu- ation pictures taken. The following weeks were ones of indecision as each Senior was compelled to make his choice of proofs. On Novem- ber 5 the Yearbook photographer came to snap all of the Bellows' classes and clubs, and everyone became a model of What the Well Dressed Student Will Wear. The big night arrived at last. After endless preparation and two full dress rehearsals, not without amusing flaws, the Class of '48 pre- sented its play, Young April, with excellent effect. Much acclaim
