Dear Llnda I just had to wrlte to tell you our mascot about our class reumon last nlght What memorxes xt brought back' Begmnmg wlth a reminder of that first day as Freshmen a tram of recollectlons was started that carrred us on through to graduatxon and kept us talkmg t1ll all hours As our freshman class was separated mto three d1v1s1ons the busx ness students were amused throughout the year by the subtle jokes of Mr Davis wh1le another group swooned at the slght of Mr Duggan who lnslsted that his name was pronounced Duggan not Dugan the bread man The thlrd group had a dizzy experxence with a successlon of three homeroom teachers fOne of them was presented a kxtten Q We had been told many tlmes that we were lxvxng xn an era of great hrstory, and wlth our brothers and frlends 1n servlce that year was shadowed but a brlghter day came on May 8th when we marched 1nto assembly and heard President Truman proclalm Vxctory m Europe We had the remamder of the day for celebrat1on By the way Llnda youve heard how the g1rls topped the boys ln mterclass sports? Our w1nn1ng streak began that same year when we were able to defeat the mlghty Semors m basketball A mam event of June IH our freshman year was the fiftieth com mencement of the hlgh school when Mr Bellows prmcxpal at that first commencement and many of those to follow came to make the address September 1945 brought LS back to our Hlgh School daze IH a happier mood for the war was over at last The first half of the year was comparat1vely uneventful but on February 23 we attempted our first b1g project the Sophomore Hop All our guests seemed to share our own opxmon that our theme Wmter Wonderland was a real 1nsp1rat1on Most of us can stxll cut a snowfiake and why couldn t we after cutting close to 500 of them? Of course you must have heard how suspended on wxres they gave the lmpresslon of a snow storm and wlth the snowman and the tree pamted whxte carrled out the theme perfectly jack Krupls eleven plece orchestra filled the atmosphere wxth approprlate wmter musxc Although the boys side spllttmg act was ehmlnated at the last mmute because of advxfsers dxsapproval the glrls rendxtxon of the tlmely song Let It Snow went over ln a bxg way A d1vers1on not on the program occurred when the glrls just before their act accldentally trlpped over the mam light cord and caused a temporary blackout Wxth the first month of sprmg our gym classes dashed out of doors once more for games whlle on Aprrl 30 we exuberantly welcomed the tmkle of the falthful Good Humor man s bell Easter vacatlon in m1dApr1l next and the return to work wlth finals uncomfortably near Came May 3 and Mxss Monson called mn the toughest asslgnment of the year those hlstory source themes Cbetter known as lllustrated hxstory notebooksj Although the asslgnment had been g1ven out ln 36 ' a l. l . .
