B.F.A. Mercury ,- W Bac.. ., ..,... ?5 As we gained the street Myrtle narrowly missed being run over by a person on stilts. This was Iean Grover who had grown taller at last, for she was now on stilts and was sandwiched between two posters which read on one side, Come to the wrestling match! Lorraine May- hew may hew Jackie Hanceli' The other side read, Don,t miss this exciting event! For Jackie Hance may hew Lorraine Mayhew lin Bold black letters also announced the fact that Yvonne Guertin was to be the referee. M yrtle: A basketball game opened the sched- uled sports events. Certie and I wanted to at- tend, but since our feet were so tired, we slopped into the pocket of a passerby. By snooping through his pockets, we found a card on which was written, i'Honorable Thomas Greenwood IIID. At the game, the winning team, starring the Bouncing Basketball Bilodeau Brothers Uerry and Larryj was managed by Margaret Newton, former manager of a successful girls, basketball tournament team. Honorable men- tion went to two referees, Shirley 'iBuckshot,, Thomas, and Marilyn Ovitt, known as Little', Ovitt. The next sports event ended in a tie. It was a forty-yard dash between Claire Bed, May- nard and Shirley Speedy,, Kalahan. And as both had so much practice in running, 'iltedv on the basketball floor, and i'Speedy', on the way to school, they finished together. Another person to receive honors was Mitchell Sturgeon, who thrilled all by his daredevil tricks on the trapeze. A baseball game occurred then, and the distin- guished mezzo-soprano, Flora i'Flossiev Vernal, sang the Star Spangled Banner and threw the cE2' CS' :' '. 'i:f:E:2:1: ' ' 5 5 it ' first ball. The team coached by Dick Smith proved victors. The stars of the game were Duane Burnor, pitcher, Skippy Patenaude, and Billy Richards. 'Ihat night, we were among the thousands that gathered at the Opera House, eagerly await- ing the opening of the curtain. To keep order, two policewomen, Miriam Sunderland and Lo- retta Sears, arrived on the scene astride their horses. Inside, an atmosphere of breath-taking beauty pervaded. Soulful tones from a violin blended with the golden tenor of an operatic solo. As the spotlight played on them, it pointed out that the melody came from the instrument of Eugene Seguin, who now wore his hair long, and that the voice was that of Sir William Bartlett. In the next scene, lane Wood, who was still trying to be an angel, played on a harp. As she did this, Guy Saint Amand appeared in person, and harmonized with Ianie, the harpist. Gertie and I were in the spotlight, too, for all that while we were right there snuggled in one of the curls on janie's headdress. Gcrtie: As the music grew louder, we awoke and found that it was all a dream, or rather a prophetic nightmare, and we are still in 1950. XVe are not mice anymore, but senior girls in this wonderful class. As such, we realize that among ns are future presidents, famous scient- itst, great humanitarians and faithful leaders. As graduates of B. F. Afs Class of 1950, we sincerely hope that nothing but the best is in store for us, that our dearest wishes come tme, and that we may all live good, prosperous and happy lives. 65' 'A f ,..,., -ig 5:31, LT, 5 tl .
