Y T , CLASS POEM voners Oh listen carefully and long, Those voices far away! Whose can they be so strong and sweet? What is it that they say? It's hard to tellg the days are long Since I have heard such mirth. The sound grows loudg its echoes rise And stretch around the earth Until at last I understand. Those voices I know now Are those of youth whose carefree tongues Drown out the jingling bell- The bell that sets them free at last To leave the final class. The day is done, the shadows fall, Tomorrow they will pass VVith quickened step and thoughtful eye Out through the open door, VVhere high school friends of four short years Must part forever more. With fun and youthful joy they have gone Through life's most carefree stage. Beyond, the happy voices blend With those of strife and age.
