Phillip Spann is to be commended for his fine leadership throughout the season. May next year be better than this year's team was. Even though games were lost, the team's spirit was high because after all, their from Bellevue and that is enough to be proud of. The girls had a successful season. The Owlettes ranked 14-7 in the district. Both teams will go to the district tournaments and the boys will go to the regional tournaments also. We hope that the next years teams will be even better than this years. The girls record was 14-7. This years girls varsity has done an outstanding job this year in basketball. They attended workshops sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Student Councils. They sponsored Freshman Orientation and the Welcome Back Dance. During October, they presented the various homecoming festivities: a gift for the queen, selling mums, class float competition, and the homecoming dance, plus many other activities. During November, the council sponsored a drive to raise money for the Tenn. State Mental Health Institute. The project was very successful and over S700 was collected. The prize for the winning class was breakfast at McDonald's. This was enjoyed by all. Teacher Appreciation Week was November 28 to December 2. During that week each faculty member had a secret pal. The climax for the week was a beautiful candlelight banquet for the teachers. The christmas project was to collect canned goods for needy families. The contest was sponsored by Senator Bill Boner. A Christmas week highlighted Christmas festivities. Along with these activities, many other goals were achieved. These included dress-up days and decorating the school. During the second semester, the council remained active sponsoring student oriented activities. THANK YOU COUNCIL. This past spring the Concert Band went to Dallas, Texas to compete in the 14th annual Six Flags 84 U.T.A. Band Festival where they received a rating of II. Most people are more familiar with the band's marching season. During this year's marching season the band competed in the Columbia Invitational Marching Contest in which they received 2nd place in the medium class, the MTSBOA marching festival at MTSU where they received straight A'sj and the Contest of Champions at MTSU where they received straight B's. This year's show opened with the ever popular Rocky , and was followed by a medley of Somewhere over the Rainbow , You Made Me Love You , and The Legene of the One-Eyed SaiIor , and was concluded with WhatI Did For Love from the Broadway musical A Chorus Line . Special attractions in the show included two trumpet solos by Jimmy Hearn. In December the band marched in the annual Nashville Christmas Parade in pouring rain. However, this dreary weather did not keep them from receiving 1st place in both marching and music. These eight girls are at every football and every basketball game, cheering their hearts out. And for what? The title of being a cheerleader is prestigious, but other than that there are not many realistic awards. These girls cheer for our teams because they care. When was the last time you said Thank You to one of our cheerleaders? If the answer is Not Lately , you need to be finding a cheerleader and thanking them. Most people take the cheerleaders for granted, but if you ask a football or basketball player about cheerleaders he'll tell ou that he couIdn't do without them y . Their ability to have fun at working makes the cheerleaders a very envious group. Not everyone can have fun at working, Can You? The last two games showed the defenisve team where our team was not scored upon. The team ended with a 3-2 record. Captain Ken Lavendar and Co- Captain Chris Crawford gave moral support, not just field support, to their team. With so many diverse players, there are always personal accomplishments. The passing team of Chris Crawford and Mike Douglas achieved 5 touchdowns. In running, Ken Lavendar scored 5 touchdowns of his own. Outstanding defense players include such names as: Chris Mcquerter, Jeff Woody, and Todd Potter. Promising 7th graders are Mike Catino, Bubba Eaton, and Joey Case. Congratulations guys and Good Luck next year! .5323 k Captain's Picture: Coach Myers, Ken Lavender, Chris Crawford, Coach Jamison. W Gb , ggi! I , fi hh C' basketball This year's basketball teams were even better than last year's. Each player from both teams did a fine job of playing, to contribute to winning their games. Under the leadership of Coach Harris and Coach Ervin the team had the know-how to win their games. We wish them luck in the varsity team next year. Ifinally made it to the end of this book. It's been a rough year, but it has also been very fulfilling. The Good Times have out-weighed the Bad Times. So I just want to say Thanks again to the faculty, students, Ms. Castleman, Ms. Swisher, Mr. Jones, and Mr. Lovier, without whom I would not have made it through the year with my sanity if any. And a special Thanks to my staff. Good Luck to everyone of you and My Best Wishes for a happy life. GOOD LUCK NEXT YEAR, JEFF . . .
