They finished first in the Class A Division of the N.I.L. and were undefeated in their classg although they were beaten twice by Class AA teams. The Owls have made a great improvement over last year's record. They had a 6-2-1 regular schedule this year and comparing it with last year's 4-4 record you could say they had a successful season. The Owls clinched the Class A Championship in their final game with Howard. They won the championship in the last forty seconds of the game by tying the score up at l4-14. Although Howard was also undefeated, they had been tied once be- fore. After the game, the players voted unanimously to go to the Strawberry Bowl at Portland, Tennes- see. They knew that they would play a much stronger team there than they had ever played beforeg but this was the first Bellevue team ever to get a bowl bid. Although the Owls were treated kindly in Portland, they were defeated 46-6. Page 78 SENIOR PLAYERS Kneeling: Smith, Davidson Petty, Allen, Judd, Sullivan lan, Mercer, Perkerson. Hows.
