'ffrmgv SENIOR PROPHECY As I wandered slowly through Centennial Park, I began to look back over the days of the past at Bellevue. I had often thought of the good old school chums and those who guided us through one of the most important parts of our lives. I began to wonder what had happened to all those seniors. Down in the low shady part of the park I saw an old man, whose hair and beard was hoar with age. He held in one hand a large scythe and wore an old ragged gown. He said in a low trembling voice, Come, my boy, and I will tell you what you Wish to know, I thought he was just a crazy old lunatic, but how did he know that I wanted to know anything? After all, it was a bit mysterious, but since I was at leisure at that time, I went and sat with him. He asked me if I would like for him to tell me of some of my schoolmates. I said, Yes, by all means, go ahead. Many of your friends are well spoken of, such as: Homer Maynard, speaker of the House of Representativesg William Holmes Smith, the President's private secretaryg and Edith Ethridge, who has just startled the universe by marrying the Duke of Pinkeye. There are many more who have accomplished much in other tields. And now let's consider some more of our beloved seniors. Van Grizzard is now a fortunate storekeeper who has taken the H. D. O'Brien business. J. Thomas Hirs- brunner is a hog dealer and Joe Kid Collier is a veterinarian. Deurelle Craighead is the publisher of the Cregg-Head Shorthand Book. Dennis Johnson and Ed Boquo are the recent publishers of a new Geometry Book. Howard Fisher is the pro- prietor of the White Racer Bottling Works and his friend, Harry Wells, is in the pork business at Catalina Islands. Johnny Horton is the leader of his family orchestra. Dorcas Herron, Iva and Ethel Cunningham, Elise Harness, and Lula Hargis have all finished nurse's training and are experienced nurses. Yes, and I believe there are two school teachers from this class-Carlene Carter is teaching Home Economics, and Jewel Deal is teaching English. Roger Clark is crooning over station P-U-N-K and Marvin Reams is an NBC sports announcer. Marie Jones is a style designer for a popular clothing tirm. Virginia Bates has just appeared among the radio stars and Frances Watkins has qualified for an air stewardess. From the business side of life we turn to the romantic. Elton Boone, a silver-iieet truck driver is a proud father of four kids. Laura DeMoss was an advertising manager for B. Levitan Furniture Company until one of the Smith boys hooked her. Mary Frances Reason- over has lassoed a cowboy and tied the knot. Lena Linton has picked a settled home life for her career. Hattie Moore has gone to the top as a movie star and has found her long lost Romeo. Mary Ruth Walton, a society cream puff, has won the honor of being the best dressed woman in America, As for entertainment, Kelly Hall has opened a large theatre and has employed Mildred Dean and Vera Ensey as box ofiice girls. Dorothy Tucker is a popular night club hostess with two good assistants in Eugenia Adair and Cynthia Baird. Raymond York stole the show with the best team of mules at Columbia. James Vaughn is a Marine Lieutenant and Boyd Jenkins, also with Uncle Sam, is Captain of a battleship. I interrupted very abruptly and asked about some athletes who went to Bellevue. Elton Hulan and Charles Smith are All-American footballers at Mississippi, and Robert Megling has made the grade with Tyler, Texas. Fred Spear Perkerson, Jr. and Paul Ichabod Gassaway are playing baseball with the Chicago Cardinals and St. Louis Cubs, respectively. By the way, Anna Friedli is a very interested baseball fan in the hub city. Pete Mitchell is a basketball coach at Damsel High School and Clara Jenkins is teaching gymnastics with her. Oh yes, and there are those track stars. Evans Tucker is the record-breaking, fieet-footed dasher at Hale and Avery Richardson is the high jumper at Yarvard. Now that the time has come for me to part, I say, 'Time marches on and so do the BELLEVUE SENIORS or '39.' Half dazed I found that this was only a prophecy. J. B. ELIZER, Class Prophet.
