' fp V 4M ,ff 'qm- E.,flA'Q,, 'f s elm .Stuff SENIOR HISTORY In the fall of 1935, BELLEVUE HIGH opened its doors to about sixty-live timid freshmen, who on the night before had hardly slept a wink because of the excitement of going to high school. In spite of the trials and tribulations that confront the freshmen in every high school, a successful year passed by with Marie Jones as president of the class and Miss Price as sponsor. This was a class of loyal supporters of clubs and athletics, as well as loyal supporters of the school. When school opened the next year it admitted about the same groupg a few lost and a few added. This was a class very different from the humble class that were freshmen only a year previous. We had, however, begun to feel our importance as sophomores. This year the class chose Anna Friedli as president and Miss Smithson as sponsor. The sophomore class wcn the prize for getting the most food for the banquet, the prize for putting on the best stunt as Stunt Night, and the honor of having the best cheering section at basketball games. In the class basketball tourna- ment the sophomore boys went to the finals but the girls were beaten in the first round. Another year passed by as happy as the preceding year, if not happier. In 1938 this class had reached its junior year well on its way toward four happy years at Bellevue. Homer Maynard was elected president of the class and Miss Beasley sponsor. The class played an outstanding part in athletics and also furnished many leaders and officers for various activities in the school. This class sponsored a trip to the Future Farmer Camp, in honor of the seniors, an annual entertainment sponsored by the junior class. As this school year of 1939 is gradually nearing a close the senior class, under the capable leadership of Van Grizzard, the sponsorship of Jimmy Edwards, and the advising ability of Prof. G. E. Horn, are looking forward both joyfully and regretfully as we leave Bellevue and step out into the world. The class undertook one of the biggest undertakings of any previous class, producing the BELLEVUE OWL, the second annual ever to be produced by Bellevue. With happy memories we look back over the four years we spent at Bellevue and with these happy thoughts in mind, we face the unknown world. MARVIN REAMS, Class Historian. Page Eleven J
