Mr. Mancuso's team finished first in Belle- vue's own Freshmen-Sophomore Invitational, third in the South High Invitational, and seventh in the North High Invitational along with a seven- th in the State Meet. Gene Becstead was named Outstanding Wrest- ler of the Bellevue Tournament while Gene's teammate Jim Gebbie was named Outstanding Wrestler of the North Tournament. Sophomore Allen Eells captured the 95-pound State Championship. Allen was the only boy in the State Meet who was not defeated by a Nebraska wrestler, completing the Meet. Bellevue made the headlines when it was announced that the State Meet would be held in the Bellevue gym and when Mr. Mancuso's Fresh- men and Sophomores defeated Omaha South in Bellevue's Tournament. This was the first time that South had been beaten in any kind of a meet in the last four years and it was also the first time the State Meet was held outside of Omaha or Lincoln.
