Bellevue High's science department is constantly changing to keep up with the advances in science education. After taking the BSCS basic biology courses the student is well quali- fied to continue on to zoology and botany and to a possible biology or bio-chemistry major in college. The new Chem Study program and the advanced chemistry courses have won many Bellevue grad- uates advanced placement in college chemistry courses. The physics depart- ment is using the PSSC program, which delves into the intricacies of physics with emphasis on discovery instead of memory work. The purpose of the mathematics program is to develop within the student the ability to reason, plus the quality of academic discipline to enable him to use his reason- ing power for the best results. The mathe- matics department of Bellevue High, including courses ranging from first-year algebra to introductory calculus, offers the student the choice between the grounding in theoretical mathematics needed to continue in the subject at the college level and a course in the practical mathematics necessary for a technical education. -1.- . 1-' Mr. Richard Beish- line: Ceometryg B.A.- Nebraska Wesleyan, M.A.-College of Holy Names

Kim Hoelting speaks in Masters Of The Literary Arts English is the fundamental step in the stairway to better learning. These tried and worthy literary masters form the dynamic body of our English department. They know that, indisputably, English is basic in its need to any other field of learning. Without an understanding of the language a history test is futileg a science report-impossible. And in all other fields of learning what common tongue is spoken? The English department of Bellevue High is the gateway to the know- ledge of the world. as . 2 -V.
