District 201 worked toward a successful year The Board of Education of District 201 began the year with new office space, created from the former civics classrooms on the second floor of the Main Building. The business management office and the central office staff were moved into the new offices. Another important addition was the conference room, available for Board and faculty conference use. The Board initiated an art contest and purchased works from both West and East art students to be displayed in the new offices. Mr. Herbert Baum, a faithful member of the Board for over twenty years, died on November 16, 1978, and the Board appointed Mr. Norman Krause to fill his unexpired term of office. In addition to regular school business, the Board conducted a survey for restoration of campus buildings. Mr. Robert Dosier, assistant superintendent, and Mr. Eugene Sawallch, business manager, supervised the dally business of District 201. Mr. K. Lane Miller. Superintendent of District 201. Mr. K. Lane Miller led the pack of spirited Maroons in the enthusiasm of Hobo Day. Members of the Board of EducaUon were Attorney Ralph Derango, Mr. Burris, Mrs. Jean Donovan, board secretary, and Mr. Joseph Donlan, Jr. Norman Krause, Mr. George Nold, Mrs. June Cox, president, Mr. Edward Missing from the picture was Mr. Leonard Moore. 26 District 201
