The fall play this year, which was presented October 17, 18, and 19, and which is annually directed by Charles Zeller, was William Shakes¬ peare ' s MACBETH. This was the first time that a Shakesperean play had ever been attempted on the East Stage. A fine set was designed by Mr. Ron Isom, who was able to transpose small B100 into a medieval castle.

.. .and the beginning is always hard. The first day of find¬ ing lockers, classes, johns, and eating cafeteria food could scare anyone. Remember? But, actually it all starts before that first 8:30 whistle blows. You know what I ' m talking about. The day your schedule arrives. Your mom ' s threatening to cut off your supply of peanut butter if the phone rings one more time. Your ear ' s so sore and your mouth ' s so dry, but you just have to call up Karen to see when she eats lunch, and ask Dan if you can borrow his locker again this year. Every year it ' s the same; things never change. Then the big day arrives. That first day of school. The day your dreams come true. . . or should I say night¬ mares?. .. It ' s horrible. Everyone ' s really restless, trying to get kids down on the floor and smearing lipstick on them. The bus driver warns, ' it isn ' t going to be like it was last year, ' b ut everyone knows it will be. Paula David I wore a dress! Soldier Linda Beaston Sue Brierly Apparitions The play included 30 enthusiastic students in the cast as well as many hardworking behind the scene crew members. The costumes worn in the production, which ranged from medieval evening gowns to suits of armor, to witch outfits, were ordered from Ead ' s Costume Company in New York. The play was certainly a success; for the first time in East ' s history, the fall play was sold out all three nights.
