Combat Cargo is made up of dedicated, hardworking Marines and Sail- ors. The flight deck team were re- sponsible for the safe -loading and unloading of all troops, mail and cargo from the helicopters. The Well Deck team handled the Upper and Lower vehicle decks. They were responsible for maintaining a safe and se- cure area for the loading and unloading of troops, cargo and vehicles aboard LCACS. Personnel and equipment safety was always a top priority during every evolution. It is also the responsi- bility of lst Division to assist in the overall ship- board preservation, and that has truly reflected the great pride and profes- sionalism of the ship and the crew that sails her. As a vital part of Deck Department, lst Division is a focal point of knowl- edge, professionalism and dedication. Zlld Division can be seen- at work everyday throughout the ship. During LCU operations, 2nd Division works to- gether to safely launch and recover LCUs in the ship's Well Deck. Additionally, 2nd Divi- sion stands the same deck waches and provides the professionalism needed to ensure every underway replenishment goes smoothly. The Boatswain's Mate rate is the oldest rate in the Navy.
