Composed of Fire Controlmen , CF Division is charged with the self de- fense of the ship, encom- passing surface-to-surface air missile systems, fire control radars, automated gun mounts, and torpedo countermeasures. Within the realm of CF Division's equipment are the computers in the Com- bat Information Center QCICD, where operators can detect, localize, target and destroy a threat within a matter of seconds. CJ Division is re- sponsible forthe mainte- nance and upkeep of the Interior Communications systems. These systems include navigational equipment, interior voice communication switch- boards, Shipis Informa- tion, Training and Enter- tainment System CSITEJ, secure television systems, and alarm and warning systems.

Whether tactical, non-tactical, SNAP, IT-21, JMCIS, or your essential electronic mail ser- vices - the professionals of CD Division keep ESSEX con- Z 4 nected. CE Divison is com- prised of Electronic Tech- nicians responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of the ship's electronic radar, navigation and communications sys- tems. These professionals maintain the shipis satel- lite systems which supply the data for high profile services such as crew's e- mail, intemet service, and ship7s telephone service underway.
