It is also the responsi- bility of lst Division to assist in the overall ship- board preservation, and that has truly reflected the great pride and profes- sionalism of the ship and the crew that sails her. As a vital part of Deck Department, lst Division is a focal point of knowl- edge, professionalism and dedication. Zlld Division can be seen- at work everyday throughout the ship. During LCU operations, 2nd Division works to- gether to safely launch and recover LCUs in the ship's Well Deck. Additionally, 2nd Divi- sion stands the same deck waches and provides the professionalism needed to ensure every underway replenishment goes smoothly. The Boatswain's Mate rate is the oldest rate in the Navy. Piping, fancy work, handling lines and taking part in honors and ceremonies all display the pride of 2nd Division. lst Division: Front row CL-RJ SN Ches Vernon, SN Shawn Gray, SN Yadira Delamora, SN Vashti Espinosa, SN Song Han, SN Arman Libao. Most of our civilian guests were familiar with USS Es- sex, and the LHD layout, but Belleau Wood was an entirely new ship for the crew and Tigers to explore and learn about. Nearly 150 Tigers worked on a Personnel Qualifi- cation book which was challenging and fun. Completing the PQS gave Tigers a better understanding of the ship's mission and capabilities. Special events kept the Tigers busy, such as Cinema at Sea, a Tiger Rally, ice cream socials and general ship tours. Our new shipmates also got to experi- ence a Sailor's homecoming as each Tiger manned the rails entering San Diego. .D Y V, ra if A3 L, f ,-J5,ta5 ... . 15535 Ga I F i Q? . g,w Q WL nl w .
