Tigers Capture Districts . ADVANCE TO REGIONS The 1987 Tiger Volleyball team, coached by Donna Brinton- Hawkins, went undefeated in the Minnesota River Conference for the second consecutive season and captured the MRC Conference title for the third consecutive season. The team went on to the District 13 tournament, where they beat LeSucur in quarter finals, and defeated Jordan in semi-finals to make it to the championship match. The Tigers played LeCenter in the championship match and defeated them 16-14, 15-12, 15-8 to advance to the Region 4A tournament for the fourth consecutive season. At the Region tournament, the Tigers played Cosmos, rated number one in the state, in the first round and were defeated but played an excellent match. The team was defeated by Gaylord in the consolation match to give the Tigers an overall record of 24-2. Deb Zabel, senior hitter; Corinne Gransee, senior utility; and Jean Schultz, senior hitter, received MRC All-Conference selec- tion.
