Debbie James. Val Sexton. Seniors Lead Team To Second Place The 1983 tennis team ended their season with a record of eleven wins and four losses. Eight seniors provided considerable leadership and will indeed be missed. The girls earned second place at districts and were defeated by St. Paul Visitation in the semi- finals of the regions. Sharon Meger placed second at districts and fourth at regions. The underclassmen have a lot of potential and will put the Belle Plaine tennis team in the spotlight next fall. On behalf of the tennis team, we would like to ex- press our thanks to Coach Terry Knop for all the time and leadership he has given us to make our tennis season a smashing success! GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Michelle Roberts Molly Hartmann Pam Legg Joanne Boschee Ten Try Harder As temperatures soared well into the nineties, our young cross country team survived seven meets in September. Our runners had a rebuilding year in 1983. With only four girls and six boys, the young team did not finish very high in any of the meets. Each individual showed marked im- provement in their times from the start of the year to the district meet. Running the three mile dis- tance, Paul Boschee was the top runner and Pam Legg was the quickest in the girls two mile. 24 Joanne strives to pass her Gaylord competition
