 Tager’s” Tigers Take Five The 1983 Tiger football season was plagued with numerous injuries, hot fall weather, and blood thirsty mosquitoes. In the Minnesota River Conference, the team finished in fifth place with three wins and four losses. The overall record was five wins and four losses. The Tigers lost three close conference games to LeCenter, Mankato Loyola, and Jor- dan. The final game against Montgomery also ended Coach Roy Hender- son's football career at Belle Plaine after nineteen years. Under his coaching the Tigers won 101 games, lost 66. and tied three. There were four Minnesota River Conference championships in 1970, 1978, 1979, and 1980 and state play-off teams in 1977 and 1979. FOOTBALL TEAM: FRONT: Phil Hennen. Mike Jeffries. Dave O'Brien.
