CLASS HISTGRY ' We, the Dudes of 1952, began our breaking in in 1940. For three years we were grouped in two corrals. Some walked the tracks to the little red school house better known as the Lincoln, while others wadded the rivers to the Washington. There were sixty - five of us cowpokes, who began our first grade with a bang, by putting snakes in the teacher's desk. In the second and third grades we round up four more for the herd, and used toads instead of snakes. By the time we had advanced to our fourth year we were broken in a bit more and organized exchange programs with the other class. At this time we staged a puppet show and play. .Our fifth herd organized a trio and the sixth was the first to begin Y,C,L. and the annual amature shows to earn money, We sent Rose Mary and Larry to the state Y,C, L. convention in Pierre. , Finally came the time we were taken to greener pastures- -seventh grade. Now we could.3ItCl1d the local Shindigs. The first few weeks saw some mighty confused cowpokes wanderin' around the new corral, They weren't used to all these different stalls. After the roundup it was learned we had seventy - one in the herd. - Our eighth year found us yodeling with the older dudes during the Yuletide season. Our herd dirnin- ished to sixty - one this year. When we were freshmen, we elected Jim Bondurant as the head - cowpoke of the herd. Gamet Aho was vice-president and Janet Aho, secretary - treasurer. We gained several more head including two from the metropolis of Arpan and several from the Fruitdale University, The count this year was seventy - two. During our sophomore year we had a girl as head - wrangler - -Jeanne Wyman. Rodney Henderson was vice-president, Donna Jones, secretary - treasurer, Pete Pridgeon, Red Cross Representative, and Fritz Kling and Phyllis Brown, Student Council representative. The boys made the B for Homecoming , which was one of the best. Our Junior year found us very busy. The leader of the herd this year was Kenneth Clary. He was assisted byDonna Jones as vice-president, Donna Ericsson as secretary, Janet Aho as treasurer, Rose Mary Hanify and Adolph Tessness as Red Cross representatives and Janet Karinen and Jim Bondurant as Student Council representatives. Our first duty was selling at the football games. Then came Homecoming and our herd was very proud when it was announced we had won first prize on our float. Close to the be- ginning of the year we lost one of our strongest cowpokes - -Brutch Amen to the Marines. Several other members of the herd joined the National Guard. Our count this year was only sixty. We were very successful with our magazine drive. We made 82410. 90, beating the previous classes' record of 32111. 05. Then it was time for our play. We selected A Date With Judy. Finally came the big hoedown of the year- -the Prom and Banquet. We brought 'Broadway' to the old west , after many difficulties. As last we came to the last rung on the ladder. We were Seniors! I Our foreman this year was Lee Wasilik. Fritz Kling was vice-president, Joan Newell, secretary - treasurer, Jerry Brammer and Jeanne Wyman, Student Council representatives, and Susan Ellerman, Red Cross representatives. Several mem- bers of our class chartered a bus to attend the Pierre football game. After a wild and wooly trip we arrived to cheer our team on to victory. Then it was our last Homecoming. Rose Mary Hanify was elected Bronc Day Queen and Fritz Kling, Marshall. They were crowned in an impressive ceremony in the gym. Next the girls in Homemaking Ill staged a mock wedding to show us how it's done in the East . The Juniors entertained us at a lovely Prom and Banquet. Then, on Sunday evening, May 18, bacca- laureate was held ln our honor. We received our sheepsldns fsixty - two of them, and were released from the corral on May 23, 1952. O
