177 5 45.4400 John C. Winnery Mr. Jacobson, Mr. Leonard L. Snyder, Mr. Richard L. Adams, Dr. Richard E. Hughes, and Mrs. Michael Mosquini fPresident, not in picturel. In the beginning, man was an isolationist. He was naked and alone in an unfriendly world. Survival was due to his own individual efforts, and few sur- vived. But he found the way to companionship and association with his fellow men. Together they built a great civilization founded on the spirit of coopera- tion. Obstacles had to be overcome, problems solved, barriers surmounted. But always man progressed- by working together. Today we look backward at the builders, the men and women from many lands, from all the eras of history, who gave to us our tradition of life in a free, self-directed democracy, and we are thankful for their courage, vision, and devotion to ideals. The lesson for us is this: We, too, can build a better world, but only by working together, sharing our responsibilities with our neighbors as we press for- ward toward a greater frontier for mankind. gaczfwl of 5 045506 N
