We had had some great times in the Med. All of us held memories of the French Riviera, wine festivals, and the Acropolis. We didn't always know what the next port would be since BELKNAP's schedule had to be flexible, but so what, it was October, with Home and Thanksgiving just around the corner. As visions of shortness danced in our heads, the Yom Kippur War brought extensions and dread, Suddenly Home was farther away than ever before, and our question Where to next changed to When can we go Home? It looked as though we'd guard our ten mile circle of water till New Year's.
